Program Details

Tasks are hands-on and varied, and no special experience is required—just motivation and respect.

The area is not remote, but transportation isn’t always simple. We recommend renting a bike or car. When possible, we’ll offer rides into town.

Be prepared for warm, humid weather and a tropical environment where mosquitoes and harmless jungle insects are part of everyday life. We provide a cozy private loft and breakfast.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers will help maintain La Aldea in its daily needs, a jungle-based home with lots of greenery and open spaces. Tasks may include:
• Gardening tasks include watering, pruning, transplanting plants, and raking leaves.
• Cleaning shared areas (kitchen, bathrooms, outdoor spaces)
• Painting, waterproofing, and light construction (like stone fences)
• Organizing storage spaces and general upkeep

The exchange is for 5 hours of help per day, 5 days a week. There is flexibility with the schedule—as long as responsibilities are fulfilled and communication is clear, volunteers can arrange their own work times and rest days.

We value honesty, commitment, and teamwork, and we’re happy to adapt to each person’s rhythm when there’s mutual respect and flow.

Rules

To keep La Aldea a peaceful and respectful space for everyone, we ask volunteers to follow these simple guidelines:
1. Respect the space – Treat the home, tools, nature, and shared areas with care.
2. Be responsible – Complete your agreed tasks and hours with honesty and initiative.
3. Clean up after yourself – Keep your personal and shared spaces tidy.
4. Quiet hours – Please respect quiet time after 10 PM to maintain a calm atmosphere.
5. No uninvited guests – Visitors must be approved in advance.
6. Open communication – If anything comes up, talk to us. We’re flexible, but transparency matters.
7. Substances – This is not a party place. Responsible use of alcohol is allowed, but no drugs are permitted.
8. Sustainable mindset – Avoid waste, recycle when possible, and help us protect the natural surroundings.
9. Security deposit – A refundable deposit is requested in case of damages (returned at the end of the stay if all is well).
