This was the true Pura Vida life that we were searching for. My partner and I have been traveling Costa Rica for a while and when we arrived here, we knew it was different. Manrique and his friends were very welcoming, eating meals together, taking us to some local spots, and sharing their way of life with us. The work we did was challenging, but that is where the Pura Vida came into play; we worked hard for a short time and then relaxed for the rest of the day. Life here is very simple and relaxed, the perfect place to slow down from the busy life of the bigger cities.

The host Manrique made me as a first time volunteer feel very comfortable and welcomed. I learned useful skills there, such as welding, cultivating microorganisms for the plants and even how to improvise and jam with the guitar. Jamming with his musical band and friends immersed me in the local culture and lifestyle whilst making friends there. I definitely recommend this experience, the balance between working and having fun in the free time was perfect there.

The project is a very welcoming and beautiful situated place between the ocean and the jungle. This place is amazing if you want to be immersed in the local culture, to participate to dance classes, salsa nights, jamming sessions with local young people. You feel like a friend on visite, as you're invited to take part in all the host's plans. The work is a bit random, doing what is needed at the moment, without having a bigger project. So don't expect to be working exclusively on some bio construction :) Manrique is an amazing host, and Cleofa an excellent cook! Definitely recommend!

Manrique is awesome! he welcomed us with open arms and introduced us to beautiful locals and his love for surfing and music. his farm is amazing and it was very meaningful and rewarding getting into permaculture and giving back to the earth. the accommodation was lovely and the area was just perfect and remote and wonderful for a relaxing / rewarding time in costa rica. would really recommend this experience, we miss you manrique! Much Love

Manrique is truly one of the kindest men that we have met here in Costa Rica. He welcomed us onto his beautiful property that him and his family had built, made sure we were comfortable and safe. He has a big heart for creating a self sustaining ecosystem that nourishes the environment, allowing for the local people to benefit from the crops grown and nature to benefit from diversity of his farm. I would absolutely recommend staying with his for anybody who wishes to immerse deeper into Costa Rican culture and promote permaculture as the way life should be lived.
