The experience

Join Bale Nara Lombok Foundation in Lombok as a volunteer skilled in grant writing, crowdfunding, or donor outreach. Help create campaigns, write proposals, and connect them with funders from your network.
🎯 Goal: Fund projects within 3 months.
💰 Incentive: Earn up to 17.5% commission on funds raised.
This is your chance to use your expertise to drive real change—while living on one of Indonesia’s most beautiful islands.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Donation to project

Description: The $10 daily fee covers your accommodation and breakfast. A scooter is also available for rent at the location. You'll be staying with a host family.


What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Get free drinks or beverages.: Drink up! Get free and tasty drinks for yourself.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Fluent English or Intermediate French

Between 25 and 45 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

🌍 Bale Nara Lombok Foundation, a Lombok-based NGO, need YOU to help make it happen!

Are you a natural storyteller, strategic thinker, or well-connected changemaker? Join as a Fundraising & Grant Writing Volunteer and help them secure funding for grassroots projects that address education, environmental protection, sustainable livelihoods, and youth empowerment.

🔎 The NGO are looking for experienced individuals in:
Crowdfunding on international platforms (GoFundMe, Indiegogo, etc.)
Grant proposal writing for NGOs
Networking with NGOs, CSR partners, or donors abroad

💼 You will:
✅ Develop & run a funding campaign for one or more of their priority projects
✅ Help write proposals or sponsorship decks
✅ Contact potential donors, funders, or CSR reps
✅ Receive full support from their Lombok-based team: media kits, data, field access, and more

🎯 Goal: Raise full project funding within your 3-month stay in Lombok
💸 Commission-based incentive:
You will be compensated with a commission (10–17.5%) based on the amount you successfully raise. Payment terms will be transparently outlined in our partnership agreement.

Activities & Shift

🌍 Grant Writer Volunteer Daily Schedule

🌿 Morning Shift (8 AM – 12 PM)
Oversee project activities alongside an NGO representative at the site.
🍽️ Lunch Break (12 PM – 2 PM)
Take time to eat, relax, and recharge.
📝 Afternoon Session (2 PM – 5 PM)
Return to homestay or continue working in the field
Enter data and draft proposals
Participate in feedback meetings with the NGO team

🌟 Additional Weekend Programs
🏖️ Join our weekend donation-based (pay as you wish) activities—both on-site and off-site! These include scuba diving, surfing, cooking classes, digital literacy sessions, and trips to waterfalls, Gili islands, and other tourism villages across Lombok.
🏍️ If you ride a scooter, feel free to join and meet us at the designated meeting point!

🌿 The schedule is flexible and may change based on field conditions.
🗣️ Most locals don’t speak English, so use Google Translate to communicate.
🕌 As a Muslim-majority area, food and prayer ceremonies are common. If invited, it’s a meaningful cultural experience—just follow the ✅ DOs and ❌ DON’Ts.

🕌 Cultural Guidelines for Volunteers in Lombok

Lombok is a culturally rich, predominantly Muslim island. Respecting local customs is essential for your safety and a positive experience. Follow these key DOs and DON’Ts:

✅ DOs
Dress modestly: Cover shoulders/knees; loose-fitting clothes are best.
Respect attire rules in homes, schools, mosques; women should avoid revealing outfits.
Cover tattoos and limit visible piercings.
Remove shoes before entering homes or prayer areas.
Mind prayer times; avoid loud noise near mosques.
Use your right hand for eating, giving, or receiving.
Ask permission before taking photos.
Engage respectfully with locals, use basic greetings, and eat local food.
Disclose your background truthfully. No criminal record is allowed.
Note: The program follows a “LGBTQ-Free” policy to align with local norms—public expressions are not accepted.

❌ DON’Ts
No short, tight, transparent, or revealing clothes.
Avoid offensive symbols or slogans.
No alcohol, drugs, or public affection in villages.
Don’t mock or criticize local customs.
No pork in Muslim homes.
Don’t interrupt religious practices or enter mosques without proper dress.
No bikinis on non-touristy beaches.
Don’t misrepresent your identity or background.
No smoking near children or families.

🌙 During Ramadan
Don’t eat, drink, or smoke in public during the day.
Avoid loud music or parties.
Dress modestly and be respectful if invited to iftar (breaking the fast).
