The experience

What You’ll Be Doing:

Assisting with surfboard rentals at our surf shed on Adraga Beach

Helping surf instructors with lesson preparation and set-up (e.g., carrying boards, wetsuits, etc.)

Keeping equipment organized and clean

Supporting students before and after lessons

Providing general assistance with the daily operation of the surf school

Occasionally helping at the lodge


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.


What you get

2 days off per week

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Over 18 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Join the Moby Dick Lodge volunteer program and become part of a vibrant, international surf community based near the stunning Adraga Beach, in the heart of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park.

Our surf school is looking for energetic and enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the daily operations at our surf shed and help support our surf lessons. This is a great opportunity to experience the surf lifestyle, meet people from all over the world, and live right next to some of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches.

What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 2-week commitment (longer stays are a plus)

Friendly, proactive attitude and a team-player mindset

Basic English communication (other languages are a bonus)

Physically able to carry boards and assist with manual tasks

Interest in surfing, beach life, and outdoor activities

Prior surf experience is welcome but not required




Activities & Shift

Shifts will primarily be spent at our surf shed in Adraga Beach, facilitating surf board rentals and assisting with lessons. Shifts will be for about 7 hrs a day, 4 days a week.
