The experience
Ciao! We are Cecilia, Francesco, Elisa, and Chiara, and at Fattoria Accanto in Modena, Italy, we practice organic and regenerative farming inspired by permaculture. Together with our animals, gardens, and social activities, we welcome volunteers to learn, share, and grow in nature. Each day is full of variety, learning, and community — no two days are ever the same!
What you offer

What you get
2 days off per week
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Basic Internet Access:
Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details
At Fattoria Accanto in Modena, Italy, we combine organic and regenerative farming with social activities that promote inclusion and sustainability. We welcome volunteers who want to learn about permaculture, connect with nature, and share daily life in a vibrant community. You’ll experience farming, animal care, and cultural exchange while living just steps away from the historic center of Modena.
Activities & Shift
Main activities:
Feeding, cleaning, and taking care of our animals (dogs, cats, chickens, horses)
Supporting farming tasks in the fields (planting, weeding, harvesting)
Helping in the sensory garden and rewilded areas (sowing seeds, planting flowers)
Assisting in educational workshops and social activities when available
General help around the farm (cleaning, organizing, small maintenance)
Shifts:
~4–5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Usually mornings (start with animals, then farm tasks)
Afternoons free for rest, exploring Modena, or joining activities
Rules
Rules & Expectations
Respect the animals and follow instructions for their safety and yours
Keep common areas clean and tidy (kitchen, bathroom, volunteer rooms)
Meals are vegetarian and mostly from our own garden — please respect this choice
No drugs or excessive alcohol consumption on the property
