Château Life in France: Couples Wanted for Summer Help 💑🏰

It was their first time hosting volunteers, which caused some issues. They claimed they weren't aware of the 25-hour work agreement, leading to misunderstandings and to a tense atmosphere when it came up. The building is nice, but volunteers aren't allowed to use the facilities (swimming pool, salon, and outdoor spaces) and were sometimes asked not to interact with guests. They were generous in covering our needs (food and even a train ticket). The town is quite boring (no bars, activities or public transport to nearby places) and the nearest train station is a 30 euros uber distance.

Cortebotte was my first volunteering experience, just like theirs. Since it's a château and a luxury accommodation, there are high standards regarding appearance, for example, having a formal dress code is important, even on days off. The common areas cannot be used by the staff. During the day it may even be necessary to stay available more hours Defne, one of the owners, was very kind to us and even drove us to the airport on the day of our departure. I recommend discussing the tasks and working hours clearly before starting.
