Really amazing and eye opening experience! Taking care of the goats is not an easy task but it's extremely rewarding. It's a great opportunity to learn more about animal care on the farm, gardening, sustainable living and more. It's the perfect place to disconnect as well as learn discipline. Rachel has a great personality, gives great advice and motivates you to be a better version of yourself. The food is absolutely excellent.

I can't recommend this experience enough. The location of the farm is beautiful, the personality and friendliness of Rachel's (currently) 5 dogs and 15 goats are so welcoming, the tasks to be done each done each day are meaningful, and it's a truly rewarding experience. But it's all overshadowed by the amazing quality of the host herself. Rachel is an awesome person, within a few days you will understand this is true by the eye-opening and sometimes therapeutic conversations you will have with her. Her cooking is phenomenal and you will always learn or at least have a good laugh with her. 5/5

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the farm. Rachel is an incredibly interesting woman with lots of life experience to share, and her communication style is direct and honest, which was very refreshing. I feel very grateful to have witnessed the resilience and flexibility required to maintain a farm such as this, and the many realities - both harsh and rewarding - that come with owning and caring for animals. If you enjoy a stable routine, creative and independent work, and quiet time to reflect and reconnect (and also goats, dogs, and tasty food), I absolutely recommend this experience. 🐐🌱

This was without a doubt an incredible experience. I learned a lot about land restoration and got the chance to spend time with goats and dogs surrounded by nature. Rachel was an amazing host — strong, caring, and always looking after the volunteers. And her food… absolutely delicious! 🍲 I would highly recommend this volunteer program: working hours are respected, you have a comfortable bed, a hot shower, great meals, and the chance to disconnect and reconnect with nature. Thank you, Rachel. I hope to see you again! 🌿✨

Rachel was a great host and made us feel very welcome. She was always happy to teach us things and work with us on tasks, and is very dedicated to her project. She speaks very directly and openly, which was nice to have from a host. She's a great cook and really enjoys making food for volunteers. Accomodations are modest but cozy. The farm is remote enough that trips to the store are inconvenient and interactions with others infequent, though Rachel would drive us into town or pick things up for us when she was able to.

Wow, Rachel is an incredible host!! She is ambitious, knowledgeable, and takes the time to know and care for the volunteers as people. I felt appreciated for the skills I had, and was met with patience for the ones I was learning during my stay (and I learned so much here)! Communication was clear and detailed. I especially loved the opportunity to contribute to such a meaningful project with someone who is so passionate about caring for the land. Rachel, thank you for sharing your home, your knowledge, and your goats with me, I sincerely look forward to watching your project grow!

This was my first worldpackers experience and it was great. Rachel was always clear on communicating the tasks at the farm, and got to dabble in a bit of everything. We had meaningful conversations over dinner (she is an amazing cook) and she was always empowering us as women to push ourselves to do what we want to do. She is so knowledgeable. This is a great place to get away, work hard, and think. I hope your project continues to go great! I will miss the doggies and goats.

From day one, we were blown away by the stunning views of the Douro River and the beautiful nature surrounding us. Our host was amazing, treating us to nutritious, homemade meals that were incredibly delicious. She welcomed us like family and made sure we felt right at home. We got hands-on with farm work, helping with the herding and feeding of the goats, and learned a lot about local meat production. One of the highlights was learning about land management and removing invasive eucalyptus

My friend and I had an awesome experience on Rachel's farm. She is a strong, resilient and independent woman from who we have a lot to learn. ☺️You will definitely enjoy the food and fall in love with the social, lovely and cute goats. 🐐All the conditions were well established and followed perfectly by the host. We were truly contributing to the conservation project by the different daily tasks. Also, it is a calm and relaxing place from which you have a beautiful view on the Douro river. 🏞️ We definitely recommend this volunteering experience!

I only spent two weeks at the farm, but it was packed with unexpected experiences, ups and downs in terms of the weather. I hope i contributed enough for the better. I loved all the food Rachel cooked, she's an amazing chef! She was really making sure we feel comfortable and took care of our needs in all aspects. She communicated all tasks clearly to us in advance. This was my first ever worldpackers experience and I'm a 100% happy with it! Thank you!
