The experience
Join Terra Verde in Coja, Portugal as a Kitchen Help & Gardening Volunteer! We’re opening our doors this May and are looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to support with food prep, gardening, and occasional housekeeping at our peaceful eco-retreat. Enjoy nature, connect with like-minded people, and help create a warm, welcoming space for our guests.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Gardening:
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Fast Internet Access:
High-speed internet for you to work remotely
Requirements
Intermediate English
Between 22 and 35 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details
What You Offer:

What You Get:
Private Room in Shared Staff House: Enjoy your own private room in a cozy staff house shared with one tenured staff member and another volunteer
Meal Allowance: A meal allowance is provided for the duration of your stay to give you flexibility and independence
Use of bicycles anytime
Pickup on arrival at the bus station
Access to a fully equipped kitchen for your own meals
High-speed internet for staying connected or working remotely
2 days off per week to explore or relax
Activities & Shift
Kitchen Support
Assist the chef with food prep, including chopping vegetables, washing ingredients, and keeping the kitchen tidy
Help with organizing food storage and assisting with meal service when needed
Gardening Support
Help with tasks like weeding, planting, harvesting, and general garden upkeep
General Assistance
Support with occasional housekeeping duties as needed, maintaining guest areas and ensuring a clean environment
Daily Rhythm
Morning check-in with the team to organize the day’s priorities
Tasks rotate between kitchen help, gardening, and occasional housekeeping support
Rules
Please note: We can only accommodate two volunteers at a time, ensuring a cozy, focused environment for everyone. A minimum stay of 3 weeks is required. Additionally, we have 2 cats in the staff house, so if you have allergies, please refrain from applying.
