The experience
Kailash IRC is a meditation retreat center in Törbel Switzerland and welcomes people from all over the world. This position involves helping with painting, weeding, mowing the grass, sanding and oiling windows, and other building maintenance. Some experience is required for this position.
What you offer
6 hours of help per day
Painting & Decorating:
Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

2 days off per week
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Fluent English or Fluent French
Over 25 years old
Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details
The Spiritual Programme
As a volunteer you are welcome to take part in the daily chanted prayers and the teachings with meditations for free at Kailash IRC. If you are here during a retreat or course, you can also participate in the sessions outside of helping hours for free.
Activities & Shift
Typically you will volunteer 5 days a week from 9 am until 1 pm and 2 hours in the afternoon (5.5 hours per day) with a 30 min break in the morning. You will have 2 days free each week when you can explore the mountains or just relax in the friendly atmosphere of the centre.
Rules
To maintain a peaceful environnement for everyone, we ask that all our volunteers follow some basic principles of living within a Buddhist community.
As part of your stay please refrain from:
- Smoking cigarettes and electronic cigarettes
- Taking intoxicants
- Drinking alcohol
- Consuming, cooking or reheating meat and fish
- Playing musical instruments our loud music / movies (use headset)
- Burning candles or incense
