The experience
Come live in JAPOW paradise! Our family-run lodge (Japanese & Chinese couple) in Madarao Mountain Resort. We’re seeking responsible, snow-loving volunteers who can drive safely with an international license and a passion for skiing or snowboarding. Good food, Great snow, Better memories!
What you offer
24 hours of help per week
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Housekeeping:
Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.
Reception:
Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.
What you get
1 day off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Team Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Pick Up:
We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.
Language lessons:
Take free language classes at our place.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Fast Internet Access:
High-speed internet for you to work remotely
Dedicated Workspace:
Specific space for you to work remotely
Requirements
Intermediate English or Beginner Japanese
Over 21 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details
Help Us With the Following Tasks:
• Housekeeping: Clean guest rooms and shared spaces, and assist guests with check-in and settling in.
• Kitchen Support: Help prepare simple meals, including basic breakfast prep, or assist in the kitchen depending on your experience and comfort level.
• Snow Clearing: Keep entrances and walkways safe by helping to clear snow around the lodge.
• Lodge Events: Help set up and participate in small events or social gatherings to create a friendly atmosphere.
Activities & Shift
• Working Hours: 4 hours per day.
• Shift Structure: Flexible shifts to allow you to enjoy skiing or snowboarding during the best times of the day. Shifts may be split into morning and afternoon, or combined depending on the schedule and weather conditions.
• Days Off: You will have 1 day off per week to enjoy the resort or explore the area.
• Peak Times: Be prepared for occasional extra work during peak periods such as weekends or holidays.
Rules
Rules and Expectations:
1. Responsibility: Volunteers must be responsible, reliable, and punctual for scheduled shifts. If you’re unable to work a shift, please inform the team in advance.
2. Driving: If you’re driving guests or assisting with transport, you must hold a valid international driver’s license and drive safely and responsibly.
3. Respect the Lodge: Treat the lodge, guests, and fellow volunteers with respect. Keep shared spaces clean and ensure a comfortable environment for everyone.
4. Snow Safety: Volunteers should be comfortable and confident with skiing or snowboarding in different weather conditions. Always prioritize safety, and follow resort guidelines.
5. Work Performance: Maintain a positive attitude and willingness to help out in various tasks, even beyond your scheduled shift.
6. Alcohol and Drugs: No consumption of alcohol or drugs during working hours. We expect everyone to be sober and focused while on duty.
7. Communication: Good communication with the team is key. Let us know if you have any issues or concerns so that we can address them promptly.
