A really clean hostel with amazing nature all around. I can only recommend it if you enjoy spending time alone and being in nature. If you prefer meeting people, it's less suitable. Unfortunately, it gets very cold in winter, which makes some things difficult since it's quite remote. Still, it's a beautiful place with incredibly kind staff who welcomed me with open arms!

The stay in the guest house was my first volunteering experience and it was amazing! Akane-san and the other permanent staff members were all very friendly and the tasks were nothing unexpected. The working hours were always as agreed on even if we didn't finish the task. The location of the Guesthouse was nice as well with a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and the Biwa lake. All together it was an really amazing experience:D

I had a great time here. Everyone around Akane san was nice and considerate. The work hours and loads were realistic. The nature around the building was beautiful and I can highly recommend going here. One might think the rules given to you at the start of your stay are too much and too strict, but it's super easy to follow them and it's also hard to break them.

Akane, Chi, Kayoko, Eric and all the volunteers were amazing, can't ask for a better experience, work hours are respected always, football pitch, bath and in between was amazing very clean and fun experience would recommend to anyone looking to volunteer in Japan

My stay at the guest house was amazing, the whole team is super nice and the place in itself is gorgeous. There's not much going on in the area around the hostel, but if you like remote, peaceful and quiet nature places it'is perfect. Your work for the 4h doing basic cleaning and hospitality tasks, the schedule is always respected. There's no nearby supermarket but staff was always available to takes us to the closest one! The football field is perfect for people who love the sport, with the possibility of joining of the weekend group. Thank you to Akane-san, and fully reccomend it 🙇

Everything was great! The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. I really enjoyed swimming in the lake, cycling along the lakeside, and spending time in the peaceful nature nearby. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing, perfect for taking a break from city life while still being close to everything you might need. I met some amazing people during my stay, which made the experience even more special. The work was easy and all the conditions were exactly as described. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a balance between comfort and nature :)

Beautiful gesthouse just a few minutes from the lake, really relaxing place. Both the permanent crew and the volunteers are so kind, we spent great timeseither cooking together, hiking, playing tabletop games, etc. The place is super well equipped and comfortable, I would 100% go back.

Working at the Guesthouse was a really nice experience. The Location is amazing, just a short walk from Lake Biwa, where you can take a swim, and the nature is very beautiful! The next supermarket is not really close but the managers were very nice and would drive you there when you need to go grocerie shopping. The team was also very friendly and I liked working with them!

I had an amazing time and Akane and all the other staff members always made me feel welcome. The working hours were always respected and with very clear tasks. The train station is 15-20 min walking and there are plenty of trains to Kyoto until late time. Also the nearest conbini is also a bit far so sometimes the hostel feels in the middle of nowhere. I was absolutely conscious of this beforehand and had a great time with the perks of a chill and peaceful place surrounded by nature. I am deeply grateful for my time spent there.
