It was very easy to fall in love with this village and this experience. I came at the start of the hostel opening, and it was really cool to be a part of a hard working team! I got to learn many different skills and engage with travelers from all over. The accommodations (sleep, food, time off) were amazing, the people were wonderful. I don't think it was hard work, but sometimes there were unexpected jobs to do. Valeriia was flexible and respectful of my time, and willing to give favors as long as the respect was mutual. I hope to come back soon, I miss it already!

I overall enjoyed my time in the hostel. I made great friends with other volunteers and was able to go to the beach and enjoy surfing during my free time. Also, Valeriia does so much for us and the hostel. However, the workload was quite intense for a volunteer, often being left alone in charge of various tasks. The hostel could use some improvements and more staff to help it run more efficiently. We could use another Portuguese speaking staff to help with reception.

I was at the hostel Porto Covo (they have 2 locations). The location of the hostel is beautiful! Sometimes there was quite a lot of work with running the restaurant. The staff house is a serious/ illegal health hazard with black mould all over the bathroom walls. Management has been aware for months, but the constant reply is "they are working on it". These conditions actually got their previous WP page taken down, but it is still the same. This place has potential & the people are nice, but volunteers don't feel cared for. If you want to apply, I urge you to ask for photos of the house.

I really enjoyed my time in the hostel porto covo and will always carry this experience it in my heart. I really liked the vibe & nature– The staff are very open and friendly. I made real friends. <3 Your days off are always in a row, so you can explore portugal. If you're looking for a party hostel and a city where something is always going on, this isn't the right place for you. Porto Covo is a small cute village. The bathroom is in a terrible condition. It's full of mold, and the toilet flush doesn't work. Anyways thank you for everything, i enjoyed!

I was a volunteer in Porto Covo for 4 weeks and my time there was incredible. If you are looking for a relaxed beach town with many beaches nearby then this is the place for you. We worked 4 days, 8 hour shifts, and had 3 days off. It was easy to get to Lisbon, Peniche, Lagos etc. The work load can be alot at times, I was mainly in the cafe/ restaurant but at times was the only volunteer or staff in there. The staff are amazing and quickly became like family. The main issue with this experience is the accommodation, mold was a huge issue so I would inquire if that is resolved prior to going.

I had an incredible time at the hostel in Porto Covo. The team is amazing and the work is fair. The small town and the amazing views make it a wonderfull, calm place to live. The only problem was the staff house which was in a really bad condition, but the management is aware of the problem and said they were going to fix it. Once that is done, i would recommend this position to everyone!

I was really disappointed in the living conditions. Mould in the staff house, a barely functional shower and toilet. They management said they would fix these problems but took little to no effort in trying. The actual staff was welcoming and friendly 10/10 to them. But don't expect much communication from the management in general. They seem to think as volunteers we are free labor and in a way we are, but we are they to help and learn.

My experience with the hostel was absolutely amazing. The people were great and the work is pretty easy and chill. The view is so stunning, I'm still not over the view from the cliffs and you're only a few steps away from the beach! The only negative thing I have to say is the staff accommodation. Of course it's not the fanciest place, that wasn't our intention. But the place is not really clean and there are stains that cannot be removed even if you try to clean. Especially the bathroom situation was difficult because it smells in there all the time. Otherwise I'd definitely come back :)

The work at the hostel is very straightforward and easy + some of the prettiest coastlines that I've ever seen (Porto covo location). The staff + other volunteers definitely make the experience so much better, enjoyed being able to explore with them on nights out or other nearby towns. My one con is the accommodation, it was pretty dismal. The state of it is pretty rundown, mouldy, and smelt pretty bad. Great location though, in between Lisbon and the algarve and transportation is cheap
