Program Details
Hi! Iâm Philip, originally from Australia, and Iâve been living around Lake AtitlĂĄn on and off for the past few years. Iâm currently developing a small off-grid property in Tzununa into a permaculture garden đŸ
This is a great time to volunteer, as weâre finalizing key parts of the design and preparing for the rainy season. Weâll be planting, digging swales, making compost systems, ponds, and water channels â all based on permaculture principles đż
I host volunteers for 1â2 weeks, offering a tent stay with daily breakfast included. Youâll help about 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday, doing light garden tasks (I have workers for the heavy stuff).
Weekends are totally free, and youâll have time to enjoy the lake and surroundings.
Occasionally, weâll share extra meals together informally. There are also great local food spots nearby like Granja Tzikin, Maltiox, and Balam.
Some permaculture/gardening experience is a plus, but not required â just a good attitude and love for nature âš
Activities & Shift
Hereâs a general flow of our day (flexible depending on weather and energy):
7:00 AM â Wake up
7:30 AM â Optional morning breathwork or yoga on the balcony đ§
8:30â9:30 AM â Gardening (watering, planting, weeding, light tasks) đ±
9:30â10:00 AM â Breakfast together đœïž

We aim for a relaxed, intentional rhythm â balancing work, reflection, and connection.
