We were welcomed by a loving family and felt at home right away. It was an amazing and unique experience getting to know the local way of living. We were not only welcomed by the family but also got to know the friends and other locals living in the village. We were asjes to paint a mural for the local school and had an amazing time giving a little bit back to the community. They even took us along to a wedding in the weekend feeling truly as part of the family. We learned to live like a local and appreciate the slow and simple way of living. A perfect break from the rush of traveling.

I stayed with Zaki and his family for a week, it was an absolutely amazing time and a highlight from my travels in Malaysia! I was truly welcomed by Zaki and his wonderful family, they let me into their everyday, home and we cooked amazing Malay food together. I will highly recommend to stay with Zaki and his family if you want a break from travelling and just calm down in the beautiful surroundings of the project. Worldpackers have a limit on how much information you can write, so Zaki is apparently not able to write all the information. I recommend you to ask for all the information :))

I had a wonderful time with Zaki and his family! This is a great place to relax and immerse yourself in Malaysian culture. The work was essentially daily chores (sweeping, cleaning the dishes, and helping cooking), so most of the time was spent just relaxing (hanging out on a hammock & playing monopoly deal). If you need some down time after months of traveling or you just need to sort your life out this could be a great spot for you to do so. Everyone is so kind and respectful.

I spent four weeks with Zaki and his family and I'm so glad I chose to do it and that my first time was with that family they welcomed me with open arms on day one, friendly and helpful they don't push you to work it's a laid back environment I'm going to miss him and the family (especially Ian) but I will be back again for sure, would recommend applying to stay there, if your friendly and willing to help out when needed you won't have any problems.

Zaki & his family are upmost welcoming and make you feel at home in a foreign country. His wife, Yeti, cooks so many nice meals and the kids are fun to be around. In my time here I've been lucky to have met many other interesting & adventurous travelers although that is not always guaranteed. Overall, if you want to have meaningful & local experiences while in Malaysia I highly recommend!

If you're looking for a local Malaysian lifestyle, with lots of time for relaxing, good food and conversations you will love your stay with Zaki and his wife Yati. You will live a simple life, no fancy room, shower or kitchen. But It's not about that, it's the family and people in Lurah Bilut that will make your stay. Zaki is well known in town and multiple of his friends stays for family dinner, play badminton or talk to you. But if you have a hard time being bored or restless... This is probably not the place for you. Zaki invites you to his family to think, relax and eat lots of food.
