As a volunteer, you'll help enhance the skills of our team, optimize resources, and strengthen community connections to ensure the sustainability of our projects.

You’ll also experience daily life with a Kenyan host family while enjoying the natural beauty of Homa Bay County.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Content Writer: Write, edit and publish inspiring content.

Video Making: Create, edit and publish digital videos.

Social Media: Maintain and update social media channels.

Photography: Take, edit and provide amazing photos.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 35 Per week

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers and Materials for volunteer activities

Description: We ask for a small contribution to cover essentials like food and support for neighbors, ensuring the entire community benefits from your stay.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Our family home hosts up to three volunteers at a time, and we embrace any type of help β€” from assisting with building projects and supporting teachers in local schools, to contributing to community initiatives and fundraising for future programs. πŸ› οΈπŸ“š

Our community faces challenges like climate change, underfunded education, limited healthcare, and poor sanitation. Through your support, we aim to revive projects such as tailoring training for women, youth mentorship, and essential health initiatives. 🌱

By volunteering with us, you'll experience the real impact of your efforts and be part of rebuilding hope and opportunity in our community.


Activities & Shift

As a volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities based on your skills and interests:

🩺 Healthcare Support: Assist at the community clinic with HIV/AIDS testing, preventive health education, and hygiene campaigns.

πŸ“š Teaching and Childcare: Support orphans and vulnerable children (ages 2–9) by teaching English, basic math, songs, dances, creative arts, and more.

🧡 Vocational Training: Help train community members in tailoring, embroidery, or introduce new skills that can promote self-sufficiency.

πŸ“Έ Media and Content Creation: Help document our projects, boost our online presence, and attract new supporters through social media and website content.

πŸ’¬ Fundraising and Outreach: Assist in raising awareness and securing support to sustain and grow our initiatives.

Rules

Volunteers stay with our family and are welcomed as part of our daily life. πŸ‘πŸ’›
You’ll share meals, help with everyday activities, exchange ideas, cook together, and experience authentic Kenyan culture through direct interaction with our family.

Accommodation includes a shared bunk bed room with one of our children (bedding and mosquito nets provided).
You’re also free to camp in our spacious garden if you prefer. πŸ•οΈ

Meals are provided daily, featuring traditional dishes like ugali, fish, vegetables, tea, and bread. πŸ›
