The experience was good, being in the centre of madrid was a plus with lots to see around the hostel. The tasks were pretty simple and straightforward. The one downside was the living arrangements, as it seemed like they made a small closet as one of the rooms for volunteers to sleep. The other volunteer experiences I have done have provided better accommodation.

This experience was extremely disappointing. For starters, the communication was horrible. I was never informed of when my training would be. The hostel made me switch beds four times in one week. Additionally, I was initially informed that I only had to work during my assigned shifts. However, there were numerous unspoken expectations about needing to go out, drink, and socialize every single day. Those who didn't comply were looked down upon. Despite being a very social person, I was told I "wasn't social enough" for this hostel. There is an utter lack of leadership at this place.

This is a volunteer position, and it requires genuine commitment. If you do not have the willingness to contribute, this may not be the right fit for you.

We deeply regret that you were only seeking a place to sleep for free rather than a home, which is what we strive to provide at Sungate.

Nonetheless, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. As a gesture of goodwill, we have provided you with 3 additional nights free of charge to help you find another place to stay.

I felt very welcomed by the staff & volunteers from the moment I arrived. The hostel radiates an openness as I've never experienced at a hostel & the location is unbeatable. Shifts are explained very well, work hours were fair & fun. You'll have to be a extremely social person. Without really having a space to recharge I felt drained sometimes. The rooms you sleep in don't have a window & people regularly get sick because of the old AC. Inappropriate behavior from guests when going out can't be prevented by the hostel but you'll have to be aware of. I'd a blast with the other volunteers!!

I cannot say enough about the lovely people who work at this hostel. I practiced my Spanish skills everyday and believe I would become fluent in 6 months living here. guests and staff are from many Spanish speaking countries but the receptionists and volunteers all speak English as well. I would recommend this stay as perfect for a one month period. You NEED a very high social battery and to take care of yourself. Accommodations very and aren't always ideal but you will have the time of your life if you want to meet many and party/chill often. Felt great working for a 9.8 rated hostel!

I had an amazing time at OneFam! The shifts were very straightforward, the facilities are really nice and all the other staff and volunteers were fun and welcoming. The hostel is very social, with day and night activities every day of the week.

It was my first time volunteering and I absolutely loved it here! The hostel environment is very social so you meet so many new people everyday. The staff were very good and the volunteer connection was awesome and we always have each others backs. The shifts were not hard, they consist of laundry, cooking, helping clean and party leading. If you are a social person who likes meeting new people and partying, this is definitely a good place for you!

I volunteered in the hostel for a month and I fell in love with my little volunteers family ❤️ I am sure we will see each other again all around the world. I got to know every staff and got very close to most - gracias a todos de verdad 🥰 . I can only recommend this experience, tasks are easy and so are the shifts. Party leading shifts are mostly done with another volunteer so you get to bound with everyone ! Communication could be hard at times but it all got sorted afterwards and was mostly due to gaps in the training. If you look for a nice Madrid experience I honestly recommend 100%

Ah what a special place OneFam is, I got comfortable super quickly and had such a great time. The staff is incredibly friendly and they really make you feel like a part of the family. The work was super doable and getting the party shifts didn't feel like work because your job is to help everyone to have a good night. Training at the start could have been a little bit more thorough, but the volunteer culture is so solid that your other volunteers will help you out with whatever you need. This experience was incredible, I'm glad to be part of the OneFam family and hope to do it again soon 🫶🏼

My experience in the hostel was awesome. The staff tought me many things and helped me to know the lifestyle in Madrid. The other volunteers were wonderfully awesome! We were a dream team. It's a place where I felt really welcome. Right now I'm living in Madrid and the hostel was the best introduction to the culture, the city and the nightlife. If you wanna know more about the experience, just send me a message. I'll be really happy to help you :)
