Lombok Permaculture Experience: Hands-on Farming (Beachside)

Staying at the project was an incredible experience. It was my very first time living for a whole month far from the city, fully immersed in nature and local life. The peaceful environment, surrounded by greenery and calm, helped me disconnect and reset. One of the highlights was meeting and talking with the locals they're warm, welcoming, and full of stories. If you're a surfer, this place is a hidden gem — only 10 to 15 minutes from Mawi Beach, one of the best surf spots with world-class waves. Whether you're here to relax or ride waves, this place is just perfect.

We spent 1 week in the project and we had a really instructive and peaceful experience between plantation and animals. Jasur and Noni share to us their experience and knowledge about farming and DIY. More over, they are very welcoming and grew a fantastic farm. Can't wait to come back

It was a lovely stay at the farm, the cabins are amazing, the work is flexible, Jasur and Noni are awesome hosts and the food is delicious! You choose what project you would like to do, you can build improvements for the farm, plant, cook, paint... it's up to you! Would definitely recommend staying here!

The experience with Noni and Jasur at the farm was amazing! Together with the whole team of around 5 Indonesian workers and 5 other volunteers, they are creating a beautiful farm with animals, diverse plants, home stays and a café from scratch. I loved the freedom to choose your own project - you can help with gardening, feeding the animals, construction, painting or cooking / baking for the café. Everyone was proactive and open to new ideas with a great hands-on mentality. My favorite parts were the joined dinners in the cozy café area sharing stories & playing games. Can only recommend!!!

I had the pleasure of volunteering at the project for two weeks in May. The place itself is a very peaceful environment and provided me with a setting that felt like home. There was always an activity to help out with, whether it be building or farming related, which contributed to the feeling that you were making improvements. Jasur and Noni were great hosts who always made sure that you were well fed and comfortable. I was able to meet many locals and foreigners alike during my time here. It was enjoyable to hear many different perspectives from all around the world. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the project Farms for 3 weeks. Such an incredible experience. Jasur is an awesome dude with tons of wisdom on life and business. Very flexible with tasks and hours and gives volunteers the freedom to contribute to whatever they think will improve the farm. Had plenty of time to surf, sometimes twice a day, while also contributing to different construction projects around the farm. Food is also incredible and so fresh.

Hi Lars, It was a pleasure for us to host you at our farm, and thank you for revisiting us yesterday. We enjoyed the time together, and we will miss your presence for sure. Now that you have a big reason to visit Indonesia at least once a year, we are looking forward to meeting you each time here in Lombok and also in Sumbawa ;) All the best going forward!

I had a wonderful time during my stay at the project! It's amazing what they've built in such a short time. From day one, I felt like part of the family—sharing meals and stories with Jasur and Noni and the hardworking team. My cabin was super cute and cozy, and the work was flexible. They encourage volunteers to share ideas and truly value each person's contribution. The BBQ nights were the best—so delicious! I'll miss those the most. I'm excited to visit again in the future and see how everything continues to grow and thrive!

We're so happy to hear you had such a fantastic time at Mawun Valley Farm and felt like part of our family from the start, enjoying the meals, stories, and contributing your ideas. It's great you found your cabin cozy and appreciated the flexible work. We're especially thrilled you loved our BBQ nights! Knowing you're already planning a future visit to see the farm grow is the best compliment, and we'd be delighted to welcome you back.

Spending ten days volunteering on the farm was honestly one of the best experiences I've had. Every day was simple but full. Waking up with the roosters, working close to the land, and learning from people who are truly passionate about what they do. People who made me feel like part of the family from day one. It's definitely a natural and local experience (think early mornings, physical (and flexible hours) work, and simple living), but that's exactly what makes it so special. I couldn't recommend it more!
