The experience

Help care for sled dogs! Tasks include feeding, cleaning kennels, training, and harnessing teams for runs. You’ll learn about dog behavior, nutrition, and sled equipment while working closely with experienced mushers. Dog cuddles are part of the job!
This is a volunteer position with a small allowance.

What you offer

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Fluent English or Fluent Norwegian

Between 18 and 46 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Do you love animals and want to spend time with some of the most loyal and hardworking creatures out there? As a volunteer with us, you'll get the chance to care for, feed, and cuddle our sled dogs – a job that is as rewarding as it is educational.

Our dogs love attention and need someone who sees them, understands them, and respects them. You’ll learn a lot about canine behavior and the unique qualities of sled dogs while becoming part of a community that shares your passion for animals and outdoor life.

Activities & Shift

Activities & Shifts
As a volunteer, your days will be filled with meaningful tasks that ensure the health and happiness of our sled dogs. Here’s what a typical day might look like:

Daily Activities:
🐕 Morning Care: Feeding, watering, and checking the health of the dogs.
🧹 Kennel Maintenance: Cleaning dog yards and ensuring a hygienic environment.
🐾 Socialization: Spending time with the dogs, cuddling, and ensuring they feel loved.
🥣 Evening Feeding: Preparing and serving meals, making sure every dog gets the right nutrition.
🚶 Exercise & Training: Depending on the season, you may help with training runs or free runs.

Shifts:
⏰ Morning Shift: 07:30 – 11:00 (Feeding, cleaning, and care, training)
⏰ Evening Shift: 17:00 – 19:00 (Final feeding and bedtime routine)

I the dog sledding season (December-March) we start at 0700

Shifts are flexible, and you’ll have time to rest and enjoy the surroundings. If you love dogs and outdoor life, you’ll feel right at home!

We want to ensure that everyone has a positive experience while working with our sled dogs. Please keep the following guidelines in mind:

Respect the Dogs: Our dogs are not just animals – they are family. Always treat them with care, respect, and patience. No rough handling.
Safety First: Follow all safety protocols, especially when working with sled equipment or during dog exercises.
Communication: If you're unsure about something, ask! We value clear communication to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Cleanliness: Maintain a tidy living area and work environment. Cleanliness is key to ensuring the well-being of both dogs and volunteers.
Pet-Free: For the safety of our dogs, we cannot allow personal pets on the premises.
Drugs: We dont accept any kind of drugs.
