Join the Sea Turtle Guardians of the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica!
Imagine waking up to the sound of waves crashing on a pristine beach, the air alive with the calls of monkeys and scarlet macaws. Nestled on a breathtaking beachfront property in the wild heart of Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula, our sea turtle conservation project invites you to step into an unforgettable adventure with a purpose. This is your chance to protect endangered sea turtles—hawksbills, green sea turtles , and olive ridleys—while living in one of the planet’s most biodiverse paradises, where rainforest meets the Pacific.
As a volunteer, you’ll patrol moonlit shores to safeguard nesting mothers, relocate eggs to secure hatcheries, and witness the magic of tiny hatchlings racing to the sea. No experience? No problem—our team and passionate volunteers will guide you every step of the way. You’ll work hard, but you’ll also connect with nature and like-minded souls from around the world. Between shifts, explore the Osa’s hidden treasures: swim in turquoise waters, hike to waterfalls, or simply unwind on our stunning beachfront base.
Why Volunteer With Us?
• Impact: Help save a species and preserve a fragile ecosystem.
• Adventure: Live off-the-grid in a world-renowned biodiversity hotspot.
• Community: Bond with a small, dedicated crew of conservationists and locals.
• Perks: Basic accommodations provided, plus memories to last a lifetime.
We’re looking for nature lovers, thrill-seekers, and anyone ready to make a difference. Shifts run during nesting season (June- December) with flexible stays from 2 week to 12 weeks. No fancy resume needed—just a willingness to get sandy and a heart for wildlife.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers and staff patrol the beaches at night (2-4 hours each night) in shifts.
A couple hours of work during the daytime as well. Daytime work consists of hatchling liberations, nest exhumations, hatchery maintenance, occasional gardening and house maintenance work or activities such as painting and decorating, making coconut oil or dreamcatchers.
With only 2 hours of work required during the day, volunteers have A TON of free time to explore the area! Our project is located with an incredible view of Isla Del Cano, some of the best snorkeling and scuba diving in Costa Rica. We are also located next to the entrance of Corcovado National Park, "the most biodiverse dense area of the world". With a perfect beach for swimming and many trails to hike nearby, we are a wildlife lover and adventures dream location. We can assist in booking tours for days off or organizing daytime activities for any day you have an itch for adventure.
Bring a book and hammock to set up on the beach. Listen to the sound of the waves and calls of the jungle while you assist in the conservation of endangered Sea Turtle Species.
Rules
We are a very "Pura Vida" camp where we want volunteers to have independence, but we do have a few rules mainly for safety reasons.
These rules are listed in our Volunteer Package booklet, please reach out to us to receive our volunteer pdf, with full information provided.
