The experience
We are looking for a motivated volunteer to join our team at Hostel Durres starting from April. As a volunteer, you will help with daily operations such as check-in/check-out, cleaning, and assisting our guests. In return, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the city and experience the local culture during your free time. We are flexible with shifts and open to working out a schedule that balances work and leisure.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Administration:
Help with booking systems and payments.
Reception:
Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.
What you get
2 days off per week
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Basic Internet Access:
Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Details
Our volunteer program at Hostel Durres is designed to offer you a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in local culture while helping us maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. You will assist with daily tasks, including check-ins, housekeeping, guest support, and general maintenance. We aim to create a balanced environment where work and free time complement each other, giving you the chance to explore the beautiful city of Durres during your stay.
In exchange for your time and effort, we offer accommodation and the chance to meet like-minded travelers from around the world. Whether you’re looking to gain experience in hospitality or just enjoy a cultural exchange, this program provides a rewarding experience for all volunteers.
Activities & Shift
As a volunteer at Hostel Durres, you will be involved in various activities such as:
-Welcoming and checking in guests
-Assisting with check-outs and maintaining guest records
-Housekeeping and cleaning common areas and dormitories
-Helping with general maintenance and ensuring the hostel is always clean and well-organized
-Providing recommendations to guests on local attractions and activities
Shifts will be flexible, and we aim to create a schedule that suits both your availability and the needs of the hostel. Typically, you will work for about 5 hours a day, with two days off per week. We can adjust shifts depending on your preferences and availability, ensuring that you have enough time to explore the city and enjoy your stay.
Rules
1- Respect and Courtesy: All volunteers and guests should treat each other with respect and kindness at all times.
2- Punctuality: Please be on time for your shifts. If you are unable to make it, inform the team in advance.
3- Cleanliness: Keep the hostel clean and tidy. Volunteers are expected to help with housekeeping duties.
4- Alcohol and Drugs: The hostel has a strict no-drugs policy. Alcohol consumption should be moderate and in designated areas.
5- Curfew: Volunteers must adhere to any curfews in place for the safety and security of the hostel.
6- Communication: Keep open communication with the team and other volunteers. If you have any issues or concerns, please let us know.
7- Responsibility: Volunteers are responsible for their personal belongings and should respect the property of others.
8- Work Ethics: Volunteers are expected to complete their tasks to the best of their ability and with a positive attitude.
