🌿 Volunteer at a Thai Buddhist Temple 🏯

My time at the temple taught me so many lessons that I'll cherish forever. This was an amazing opportunity to briefly live the lifestyle of a monk/nun, seeing the benefits and challenges, all while learning about buddhism. I would observe prayer twice a day (in Thai) and work for a few hours (sweeping, dishes, etc.). There was no pressure to work and I could relax, go on a walk or do whatever I would like. Very nice private room & bathroom too. If you have any interest in learning more about buddhism, definitely apply. I hope it has the same impact on you that it had on me :)

I left the temple with a heart full of gratitude for having been able to share those days with such wonderful and warm-hearted people. I found so much wisdom in the Zen Buddhism practised in this temple, that it would be wonderful to return :) I think that the dimension of the experience cannot be expressed in words, it is subtle and powerful at the same time. It's honestly hard to summarize everything I want to say in such a short space. This experience truly changed me, and I am beyond grateful for it. The people are so kind, open, generous and supportive. I was able to really feel what it's like to live in a local Thai community and learn about Buddhism—and most of all, about myself. A big, special thank you to Phutthamat for the wise words, deep conversations, smiles, and love. She made a real impact on my stay and on my life. The only “bad thing” is that i didn't stay longer. But one thing is certain: I will return.

I hope this review can help anyone who's unsure about whether to try this experience or not. DO IT. Everyone who lives in this temple will make you feel at home. You'll learn so much, be guided, inspired, and truly listened to. It doesn't matter if you don't speak Thai they will always find a way to make you feel included and help you understand everything. I feel incredibly grateful to have lived such an experience, where the days are not a race against time, but a space to be present and truly live in the moment. The temple is beautiful, but what makes it truly special are the people❤️❤️

It's hard to put in words how meaningful this experience was. It wasn't only the Temple/activities —collecting food, cleaning spaces, gardening and community work (I did everything except social media, assembling furniture and cooking)— but also about the incredible Thai people, volunteers, children, and the community. I wholeheartedly recommend the experience to anyone willing to immerse themselves in Buddhism, learn from monks/nuns and approach daily meditation in body/mind. This is an authentic experience, so come prepared for mosquito, heat, early mornings, and simple but lovely facilities

This was an amazing experience to truly immerse & learn more about Buddhism. I went in with an open mind, listening to the master (one of the enlightened monks) about the Buddhism teachings & his advice on what to practice based on these teachings i.e. practice awareness, breathing, meditation etc. Prayer is at 7am & 7pm daily. After 7pm prayer, there is also sessions with the monks, mostly in Thai which was a bit frustrating as I didn't understand, but I was included to ask questions when they translated it. Everyone is very nice and welcoming. I felt very respected. Unforgettable experience!

My first volunteering experience took place at this temple, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've made. My main intention was to learn meditation and connect more deeply with local culture — and this place delivered beyond my expectations. I learned not only the meditation technique but also the entire process behind it, guided by kind and knowledgeable monks and teachers. The whole community was extremely welcoming and supportive. Whatever you need, they are always there to help with a smile. I truly hope to return one day. Thank you for such a peaceful place.

Mi experiencia en el Templo el centro Raksahai fue una de las reveladoras de mi viaje. Personalmente, ya había hecho varios voluntariados y deseaba tener un impacto social en su proyecto, sin embargo el proyecto me impactó profundamente a mí, en muchos niveles, incluyendo mi espiritualidad. Cada día aquí, hay algo nuevo por descubrir de las enseñanzas budistas, del maestro o de ti mismo. Planté un árbol de bambú. Recolectamos frutas y vegetales para cocinar. Gracias a todas las monjas y monjes por las enseñanzas compartidas, en especial a Putta por ser mi traductora y guía en la cultura Thai :)

Mi primer voluntariado, una experiencia única llena de muchas enseñanzas, sin duda te hacen parte de la comunidad, todo es muy agradable en este Templo. Ideal si quieres hacer una pausa en el camino para tener un encuentro contigo mismo. No estás obligado a participar en las actividades, pero, si realmente te quieres sumergir en la experiencia es mejor que dispongas del tiempo necesario para ti mismo. Hay variedad de alimentos y es ideal para cualquier gusto, siempre habrá alguien contigo, enseñándote, y ayudando a traducir ls enseñanasas. Gracias por aceptarme, aprendí y descubrí mucho.
