Teacher for English Language
The experience
Are you interested in teaching English in Ghana? The Teaching English project offered by RisingSun Volunteers is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to contribute to educational initiatives in deprived Ghanaian schools. Due to a lack of teachers in these regions, students often face limited access to quality English language education, even in a nation where English is an official language.

Program Details
Volunteers who are native or fluent English speakers can significantly enhance the learning experience for these students. What to anticipate and your potential impact While Ghana is recognized as an English-speaking country, inadequate resources often hinder schoolchildren from receiving optimal language instruction. Volunteers proficient in English can offer valuable support and mentorship, thereby improving educational outcomes, particularly for underprivileged students in rural settings.
Activities & Shift
As a Teaching English volunteer, you will be placed in schools within Accra communities, where you may either teach independently or assist local educators.
Your responsibilities may include: #
Instructing English - Providing tutoring to students
Teaching subjects such as music, mathematics, geography, and arts
Planning lessons You are encouraged to bring any additional resources that may aid in your teaching efforts.
Please be aware that the academic year is divided into three terms, with four-week breaks in between. Since volunteers work directly with students in schools, the Teaching project will not be available during these holiday breaks. However, during these periods, you can collaborate with school directors and placement staff to conduct workshops that take place during the school holidays.
These workshops often involve engaging and physical activities that you will lead in English.
