Program Details

Hello, my name is Thomas, captain and owner of the sailing vessel Windfall.

This summer, I'm looking for passionate volunteers to help me complete the final stages of a major refit that I began in 2023. Windfall is a beautiful sailing vessel, and I need your help to get her fully ready for offshore adventures!

The work involves a variety of tasks, including sanding, painting, carpeting, rigging, plumbing, and all other aspects necessary to make the boat seaworthy. Whether you're helping with small details or more technical jobs, every hand will be valuable in bringing this project to life.

No experience is required—I'm happy to teach you the ropes! However, if you already have some experience with boat maintenance or general craftsmanship, that's definitely a bonus. We’ll work together as a team, and you’ll have the chance to learn a lot about sailing an

for every day you will help in the refit I can offer a sailing day in the future for free. Also if the connection is right im also looking for a first mate whom will gain a spot for Windfalls coming adventures. This means having a more perminent spot on Windfall when she will head to open sea again to travel the world.

Next Year’s Sailing and Maintenance Program

Get ready for an unforgettable year ahead! Our program for the coming year is packed with exciting opportunities to be part of a real sailing adventure while contributing to the preparation of Windfall for its global journey.

May/June: We kick off with the yard period, where Windfall will be hauled out for some essential maintenance and repairs. This will be an intense time, with plenty of hands-on work, from sanding and painting to rigging and checking every part of the ship. It’s the perfect chance to dive into the core of boat maintenance and see the transformation up close.

July-September: After the hard work, it’s time for some adventure! The ship will be test sailing around the beautiful Dutch lakes and islands, giving us the chance to fine-tune everything while enjoying the summer breeze. This period will be a blend of sailing and maintaining, allowing you to learn and work on the boat while exploring the stunning waterways of the Netherlands.

Winter 2025/26: As winter sets in, Windfall will head to one of the Dutch islands to receive the final finishing touches. This is where we’ll prepare her for the open seas, taking care of the last bits before setting off on our global adventure. It’s a perfect time for volunteers to help with the last steps and see the boat transform into an ocean-ready vessel.

April-May 2026: The real adventure begins! With everything ready, we’ll set sail towards Norway and Scotland, discovering breathtaking coastlines and hidden gems along the way. From there, we’ll head south, arriving at the Canary Islands by September, where we’ll prepare for the big Atlantic crossing to the Caribbean. It’s an exciting journey filled with new challenges, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable sailing.
