The experience

Zebrafarm is located 20 km from Orvieto and 15 minutes from Lake Bolsena, surrounded by nature. We practice permaculture on 2 hectares of land, with an additional 1 hectare nearby. Our farm grows fruit, vegetables, and hosts small farm animals. We experiment with natural building methods, especially straw bale construction. Volunteers assist in the garden, orchard, and kitchen. Accommodation available, including camping. English, French, Spanish


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.


What you get

2 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Intermediate Italian or Intermediate English

Activities & Shift

At Zebrafarm, volunteers engage in a variety of activities related to permaculture and farm life, including:

Garden and Orchard Care: Tending to fruit and vegetable crops, planting, irrigation, harvesting, and general maintenance.

Olive Picking: Helping with the manual harvest of olives for olive oil production, especially from October onwards.

Apple Picking: Harvesting apples for cider production and other fruit-related activities.

Permaculture Activities: Contributing to projects like composting, building sustainable irrigation systems, and other ecological practices.

Kitchen and Meal Preparation: Assisting with meal preparation for the team and other volunteers, using organic produce from the farm.

Natural Building: Participating in eco-building projects, such as using straw bales for constructing sustainable buildings.

Volunteers will also have the opportunity to learn about sustainable farm management and contribute to creating an environmentally-friendly and nature-respecting space.
