Program Details
We expect you to be motivated, trustworthy, and to have an all-consuming love for dogs. You will feed them, care for them, and almost always have a dog or two as company in your cabin.
A typical day begins at 08:00 with feeding the dogs and cleaning their runs, combined with plenty of husky cuddles, love, and care. This takes about 90 minutes for two people, including preparing food for the next meal. We generally feed the dogs twice a day. Afterward, you might have some breakfast—if you eat breakfast!
The rest of the day will involve walking and socializing the dogs. Our goal is to get all 76 of them out for a run every day. This will be your main duty. You will also be responsible for keeping an eye on their health, looking out for any issues. A keen eye and an able mind are essential, as you’ll need to spot problems and either fix them yourself or inform us if something needs to be done.
Activities & Shift
You will be coming here as Spring fast approaches, which means 24 hour daylight as we are in the land of the midnight sun. If you have video/ photographic skills that will be useful as well as pro level youtube/Instagram knowledge. You are going to witness the transition from winter to summer, some of which is nice, some of which is wet, messy and muddy for a while. However the summer offers many hours of daylight and Sunshine. Feeding the dogs takes a little strength as the feed buckets are around 20kg each, although they get lighter quickly :) Also some of the dogs, although freindly are very strong so handling some of these beautiful "beasties" can take a little power and technique. That said most people manage, but it will make you stronger, in many ways. :)
Rules
Honesty, Hardworking, Accepting and very animal orientated.
