Farm Helper in Williamstown, Ireland


The experience

Daily help on a small stud farm in the west of Ireland with four mares and foals! Duties include daily care, mucking out, feeding, and some household chores. Plenty of free time to relax, work remotely (small office available), or explore Ireland. Buses/trains nearby, and a car may be provided if to the right candidate if licensed. A welcoming rural setting! Must have experience with horses.


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Farming: Plant crops, sow seeds and help in outside tasks.


What you get

1 day off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 18 and 27 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

We care for four mares with foals and a small herd of cattle. Your role will involve handling young horses, their daily care, stable duties, assisting with veterinary visits and breeding trips, and general farm upkeep. Enjoy the tranquility of the countryside while learning about thoroughbred breeding and Irish agriculture.


Activities & Shift

Daily Routine (Flexible, approx. 3-4 hours per day)

Bringing mares and foals in/out of paddocks
Feeding horses and cattle
Mucking out stables & general yard duties
Assisting with vet visits and breeding trips
Helping with farm maintenance (fencing, tidying, etc.)
Light household chores

You’ll have plenty of free time to relax, explore, or work remotely.
