What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 10 Per day

Fee pays for: Donation to project

Description: we are pleased our volunteers to make this donation in supporting of ongoing projects and activities especial for orphans and disabled children.


What you get

3 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

Intermediate English or Beginner Swahili

Between 18 and 65 years old

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details

1. Orientation & Welcome
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, volunteers receive:
✔ An introduction – Our mission, programs, and expectations.
✔ A tour of our facilities and community projects – Get familiar with your work environment.
✔ Guidance on cultural norms – Learn about local customs to ensure a meaningful experience.

2. Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities
Each volunteer is assigned tasks based on their skills, interests, and program needs. Some key roles include:

Teaching & Education: Supporting English classes, tutoring, and organizing learning activities.
Special Needs Support: Assisting children with disabilities through play-based learning and engagement.
Community Outreach: Supporting local families, organizing awareness campaigns, and participating in projects like our Rise Together Campaign (which provides school supplies to children in need).
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization: Assisting with donation drives and grant writing to sustain our projects.
Social Media & Photography: Helping document and share our work to reach a wider audience.
Workshops & Skill Development: Teaching arts, computer skills, entrepreneurship, or any other area of expertise.

A Typical Day as a Volunteer

Rules

To ensure a safe, productive, and enjoyable experience for all volunteers, staff, and the communities we serve, we have established the following rules and guidelines. Please read them carefully and adhere to them throughout your time with us.

1. Respect for the Community & Culture
✅ Be open-minded and respectful of local customs, traditions, and beliefs in Zanzibar.
✅ Dress modestly, especially when working with children and in community settings.
✅ Avoid offensive language or behavior that could be disrespectful to the local culture.

2. Commitment & Responsibility
✅ Arrive on time and be fully committed to your assigned tasks.
✅ Inform your coordinator in advance if you are unable to attend a scheduled activity.
✅ Always follow instructions and guidelines provided by staff members.

3. Professional Conduct
✅ Maintain a positive and friendly attitude when interacting with children, staff, and fellow volunteers.
✅ Use appropriate language and behavior when working with children and vulnerable groups.
✅ Do not discriminate based on gender, religion, race, or background.

4. Child Protection & Safety
✅ Never use physical discipline or harsh words with children.
✅ Always work in designated safe areas and never be alone with a child.
✅ No unauthorized photography of children—always seek permission first.
✅ Report any concerns regarding a child's safety to the project coordinator immediately.

5. Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
🚫 No alcohol or drug use during working hours or in the presence of children.
🚫 Smoking is not allowed within project sites or near children.

6. Accommodation & Living Standards
✅ Keep your living space clean and organized if staying in shared accommodation or private
✅ Be mindful of noise levels and respect the privacy of other volunteers and locals.
