Use your creativity to showcase our permaculture garden
The experience
Our permaculture garden attracts a lot of visitors and also our camping guests regularly ask to see the garden. But without explanation, it is not always easy to see the permaculture solutions and the benefits of the techniques that we use.
You can imagine that we don't have the time to give every visitor a guidance. So Barbara created a social permaculture design with solutions for this "problem". It is called "The garden speaks".

Program Details
This will be a fun project! Defining the elements that need explanation, making pictures and/or films, writing text (together with us), making infographics, and setting up a system of small QR codes in the garden that lead to our website with the detailed info about the element. Which can be photo's, film, infographic, text...
Think: a list of 20 benefits of mulch in a garden bed. Or info about a specific compost method (we use several methods). A quiz of all functions of the branch wall...
Your stay here starts with a week long course as an introduction to permaculture, sustainable living and self-sufficiency. These courses start every month.
Unless you already have your PDC: then your date of arrival is more flexible.
Our "rich forest" is a LAND demonstration site for the Permaculture Association Britain, for the European Permaculture Network and Barbara has her permaculture Diploma (mentored by Looby Macnamara).
Activities & Shift
You will work together with Barbara Scheltus who wrote up the permaculture design for this project. She also manages the website and social media. She could use your fresh look on things! :-D
We expect you to LOVE nature, to be communicative, to have some skills in taking pictures or filming, and/or to be creative.
You don't need much knowledge about permaculture, biology or gardening but it might come in handy.
Skills in social media and how to showcase us is a pre: we are not so good at that ourselves! Maybe we can setup a plan for that together.
Rules
We expect fun and flexibility, openness and drive. You can expect this all from us as well.
We expect you to be a responsible person with an adult attitude.
We provide you with 3 meals per day. Breakfast you have at your own time, lunch and dinner we do together.
Every morning we have a check-in to start the day.
Every Friday we close the week with an evaluation and celebration.
Although we are meat eaters, we enjoy vegetarian food as well. But veganism we do not appreciate because in our climate region that is not sustainable. So if you eat vegan please don't apply.
We don't appreciate dogma's and fixed thinking in general.
After the first introduction week, you can stay here another 3-99 weeks. Of course we discuss this, your goals and wishes, and we look at how we "match". Volunteering has to be fun for the both of us!
