The experience
Be part of our mission at El Zota Biological Station, located in the heart of the Barra del Colorado National Wildlife Refuge. We're looking for volunteers passionate about nature and sustainable development. Participate in tasks such as maintenance, construction, activity guidance, reforestation, and beach cleanups. There is much to help, we are altruistic defenders of the planet.
What you offer

Description:
The payment will be used for food and materials, and a portion will be used for environmental assistance such as garbage collection and tree planting.

Program Details
As a volunteer, you'll collaborate on tasks such as facility maintenance, sustainable project construction, activity guidance, reforestation, and beach and green space cleanup. You'll also could be part of the audiovisual production assistants.
The program includes comfortable accommodations, three meals a day, and recreational activities such as jungle exploration and workshops. You'll enjoy dynamic social activities; there'll be something surprising every day.

Your participation will not only allow you to grow personally and professionally, but will also directly contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and the sustainable development of the region.

Main Activities:
Practical and Sustainable Tasks:
Maintenance of facilities, gardens, and trails.

Collaboration with neighboring schools and community activities.
Guidance and organization of visitor activities.
Recreation and Wellness:
Day and night hikes in the jungle.
Yoga sessions, traditional cooking, and sports activities.
Available Shifts:
Morning Shift: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
(Includes outdoor activities such as reforestation, maintenance, and cleaning).
Afternoon Shift: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
(Practical activities, community projects, and recreational workshops).
Flexible hours:
Depending on the scheduled activities, you may work one or both shifts, with enough time to rest and enjoy the facilities.
Rules
EL ZOTA Volunteer Program Rules
1.Mutual Respect: All volunteers must treat their fellow volunteers, staff, and community members with respect, kindness, and consideration. Harmonious coexistence is essential to the success of our program.
2.Commitment to Activities: Volunteers must commit to actively participating in scheduled activities. Punctuality and dedication are essential for the successful completion of projects.
3.Environmental Responsibility: Volunteers must follow EL ZOTA's established environmental guidelines, keeping the facilities and surrounding areas clean and respecting natural resources. Any waste must be minimized.
4.Facility Care: All volunteers are expected to take care of the facilities and equipment. Damage must be reported immediately to the program coordinator.
5.Facility Behavior: Alcohol consumption and smoking are restricted to designated areas and in moderate quantities. Irresponsible behavior will not be tolerated.
6.Teamwork: Teamwork is essential. Volunteers must collaborate and support each other to achieve the program's goals. Tasks will be assigned according to each volunteer's skills and level of commitment.
7.Safety: The safety of all volunteers is a priority. All safety guidelines must be followed during workshops and physical activities. Failure to comply with safety rules may result in suspension from volunteering.
8.Use of common areas: Common areas must be respected and kept clean. Any equipment or resources used must be properly stored after use.
9.Respect for privacy: Volunteers must respect the privacy of others, both in common areas and in their personal spaces. Any conflicts or misunderstandings must be resolved in a civil manner.
