The experience



Stop Child Abuse (SCA) is seeking a dedicated and passionate **Gender and Inclusion Champion Volunteer Trainer** to support and strengthen our mission in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugee Camps in Kenya. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring gender equity and inclusivity within our programs, particularly those focused on protecting and empowering vulnerable childre.


What you offer

The **Gender and Inclusion Champion Volunteer Trainer** program at Stop Child Abuse (SCA) is a pivotal initiative designed to promote gender equity and inclusive practices within our Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugee Camps, Kenya programs. This role focuses on addressing systemic inequalities, fostering inclusive environments, and ensuring that vulnerable children—especially girls and children with disabilities—are protected and empowered.

As a Gender and Inclusion Champion Volunteer Trainer, you will contribute to shaping a fairer and more inclusive community by empowering our teams and community members with the knowledge, skills, and tools to advocate for and implement gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches. This role is essential to advancing SCA’s mission of protecting children’s rights and promoting their well-being in a refugee context.

Key Program Objectives:
1. **Promoting Gender Equity:**
- Ensure all SCA programs integrate gender-sensitive approaches, addressing the unique challenges boys and girls face.
- Empower girls to overcome barriers to education, participation, and safety within the community.

2. **Fostering Inclusion:**
- Advocate for including children with disabilities and other marginalized groups in all SCA initiatives.
- Build awareness and capacity within the community to challenge stigma and discrimination.

3. **Strengthening Advocacy:**
- Equip SCA staff, volunteers, and community members with advocacy skills to promote gender and inclusion at local, regional, and international levels.
- Facilitate dialogues on gender equity and inclusive practices to create lasting cultural shifts.

**Key Activities:**

1. **Training Delivery and Capacity Building:**
- Design and deliver interactive workshops and training sessions on gender equity, inclusion, and related best practices for SCA staff, volunteers, and community leaders.
- Create customized training materials that address the unique challenges of refugee communities, focusing on fostering safe and inclusive environments for vulnerable children.
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and guidance to team members, enhancing their ability to identify and address gender and inclusion issues.

2. **Program Development:**
- Collaborate with the SCA team to integrate gender and inclusion principles into all existing programs, such as child protection, education, and livelihood initiatives.
- Assist in developing gender-sensitive policies and procedures that promote inclusivity across all organizational activities.
- Support the design of inclusive child-focused programs that consider the unique needs of girls, boys, and children with disabilities in refugee settings.

3. **Advocacy and Awareness:**
- Facilitate community engagement campaigns to raise awareness about gender equity and the importance of inclusion within refugee communities.
- Work with community leaders, parents, and other stakeholders to address cultural barriers that hinder the participation and protection of marginalized groups.
- Promote the rights of women, girls, and individuals with disabilities by organizing forums and dialogues to challenge harmful practices and stereotypes.

4. **Monitoring and Evaluation:**
- Develop tools to assess the effectiveness of gender and inclusion activities and ensure programs

The following rules ensure that the Gender and Inclusion Champion Volunteer Trainer contributes effectively, ethically, and sustainably to Stop Child Abuse (SCA)’s efforts in the Kakuma and Kalobeyei Refugee Camps:
1. **Adherence to SCA’s Core Principles**
- Understand and align all work with SCA’s mission to promote child protection, gender equity, and inclusive practices.
- Embrace and promote SCA’s values of compassion, integrity, inclusivity, and respect for human rights.
2. **Promote Gender Equity and Inclusion**
- Serve as a role model and advocate for gender equality and the inclusion of marginalized groups.
- Ensure that all training sessions, workshops, and programs are designed to respect and promote diversity in gender, ethnicity, ability, and background.
- Identify and address systemic barriers that hinder equitable participation of women, girls, and other underrepresented groups.
3. **Confidentiality and Child Safeguarding**
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to children, families, and community members.
- Adhere to SCA’s child protection and safeguarding policies, reporting any suspicions of abuse or discrimination immediately through the appropriate channels.
4. **Ethical Training Standards**
- Ensure training materials and methodologies align with international standards for gender and inclusion, as well as SCA’s specific goals.
- Avoid any language or behavior that could perpetuate stereotypes or reinforce inequalities.
- Create safe spaces for open dialogue during training sessions, ensuring participants feel respected and valued.
