The experience
As a Digital Empowerment Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in empowering underserved communities in Uganda with essential digital skills. You will help bridge the digital divide, increase digital literacy, and provide economic opportunities for youth and women through technology. This is an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact while experiencing the beauty and culture of Uganda.
What Volunteers Will Do:

30 hours of help per week
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
What you get
3 days off per week
Team Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

What We Expect from You:
As a volunteer, we expect you to:
Commit to the Mission: Your passion for technology and education is essential to our work. We are looking for volunteers who are dedicated to empowering others with digital skills and supporting community development initiatives.
Facilitate Digital Literacy Workshops: You will assist in running digital literacy programs for community members, teaching them basic computer skills, internet usage, and how to use software tools. Patience and clear communication are important, as you will be working with people of all ages and backgrounds who are new to technology.
Engage in Community Outreach: You'll work closely with local leaders and organizations to understand the digital needs of the community. Your role will involve outreach activities, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to access and benefit from digital tools and resources.
Offer One-on-One Support and Mentorship: Provide individual support to community members who may need extra help understanding technology, whether it’s navigating a smartphone or searching for information online. You will mentor and empower locals in their journey toward becoming more tech-savvy.
Create Educational Content: Volunteers will help develop educational materials, such as instructional guides, video tutorials, and digital resources that will continue to support the community after your time with us.

Activities & Shift
As a Digital Empowerment Volunteer, your daily activities will revolve around teaching, supporting, and empowering the community with essential digital skills. The shifts are designed to be dynamic and engaging, allowing you to make a real impact while experiencing Uganda's rich culture. Here’s a breakdown of your typical day and activities:
Daily Activities Checklist:
Morning Briefing (8:30 AM - 9:00 AM)
Meet with the volunteer team and local staff to discuss the day’s goals and activities.
Review any updates, plan logistics for workshops or outreach, and ensure all materials are ready.
Digital Literacy Workshops (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM)
Facilitate or assist with hands-on digital literacy workshops.
Teach participants how to use computers, smartphones, and internet platforms effectively.
Ensure that community members can use essential tools such as email, Google tools, and social media safely.
Community Outreach & One-on-One Support (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM)
Conduct outreach activities, visiting community members or local businesses to offer digital training.
Provide one-on-one support to learners who need extra help with using technology.
Offer guidance on online safety, privacy, and accessing online resources for education and business.
Lunch Break (1:30 PM - 2:30 PM)
Enjoy a break and share meals with fellow volunteers and community members. This is also a great time to relax and reflect on the morning's activities.
Content Creation (2:30 PM - 4:00 PM)
Work on creating educational materials, such as guides, instructional videos, and digital resources for continued learning.
Collaborate with other volunteers or staff to create content that supports the community’s learning journey.
Afternoon Workshop or Training Session (4:00 PM - 5:30 PM)
Lead or assist with follow-up
Rules
We expect volunteers to maintain a high level of professionalism at all times. Be punctual for all scheduled activities, workshops, and team meetings. Being reliable and consistent ensures that we can effectively serve the community.
3. Maintain a Positive and Open Attitude
A positive attitude is key to making a lasting impact. Be open-minded, flexible, and adaptable as you work with people from diverse backgrounds. Challenges may arise, but a solution-oriented mindset will help you succeed.
4. Commitment to the Program
We ask that volunteers commit to the full duration of their stay and fulfill the responsibilities outlined in their role. Consistency is important for building trust within the community and ensuring the success of the program.
5. No Smoking or Alcohol on the Premises
To maintain a respectful environment, smoking and drinking alcohol are not allowed on the premises, especially during work hours. If you wish to smoke or drink, please do so in designated areas away from the community spaces.
6. Respect Privacy and Confidentiality
You will be working closely with community members, and it’s important to respect their privacy. Always ask permission before taking photos or recording videos, and be mindful of confidentiality regarding sensitive information shared by the community.
7. Safety First
Your safety and well-being are our top priority. Always follow safety protocols during activities and workshops. If you're unsure about anything, please ask a team member for guidance. If you feel unwell or need medical attention, let us know immediately so we can assist you.
8. No Discrimination or Harassment
We are committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for all volunteers and community members. Discrimination, harassment, and others
