The experience

Our project is a registered non-profit organization located in Nakabango village, Jinja-Uganda dedicated to providing care, support, and education to orphaned and vulnerable children. Our mission is to empower these young lives, helping them to overcome the challenges of their past and build a brighter future. We envision a community where all children feel loved, respected, and encouraged to develop to their highest potential.


What you offer

30 hours of help per week

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Surf lessons: Take free surf classes at the local beaches.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Program Description:
At Hope for Aid Orphans Ministry, we're passionate about transforming the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children through education with a Christian worldview. As a Worldpacker, you'll play a vital role in helping us achieve our vision of creating a community where every child feels loved, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Activities & Shift

Daily Activities Checklist:

As a volunteer with Hope for Aid Orphans Ministry, your daily activities may include:

Morning Routine (8:00 am - 9:00 am)

Help with breakfast preparation and serving
Assist with morning devotions and prayer time
Support the children in getting ready for school

Teaching and Education (9:00 am - 12:00 pm)

Assist teachers with lesson planning and delivery
Help with marking and grading assignments
Support students with their studies and homework

Lunch and Break Time (12:00 pm - 1:00 pm)

Help with lunch preparation and serving
Assist with cleaning up after meals
Support the children during break time

Afternoon Routine (1:00 pm - 4:00 pm)

Help with homework and tutoring
Assist with extracurricular activities (e.g., sports, arts, and crafts)
Support the children with their daily chores and responsibilities

Evening Routine (4:00 pm - 6:00 pm)

Help with dinner preparation and serving
Assist with evening devotions and prayer time
Support the children with their evening routines

Shifts:

Our volunteers typically work 5-6 hours per day, 5 days a week. The shifts may vary depending on the needs of the ministry and the children. Here is a general outline of the shifts:

- Morning Shift: 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
- Afternoon Shift: 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
- Full-Day Shift: 8:00 am - 6:00 pm

Please note that the shifts may be adjusted based on the specific needs of the ministry and the children.

4. Code of Conduct: Adhere to our code of conduct, which prohibits physical punishment, verbal abuse, and any form of exploitation.
5. Social Media: Refrain from posting any photos or information about the children on social media without explicit permission from the management.
6. Cultural Sensitivity: Respect local customs, traditions, and values.
7. Punctuality and Reliability: Be punctual and reliable in attending to your duties and responsibilities.
8. Communication: Communicate openly and honestly with the management and staff regarding any concerns, questions, or issues.
9. Health and Hygiene: Maintain good health and hygiene practices to prevent the spread of illnesses.
10. Flexibility: Be flexible and adaptable in responding to changing circumstances and needs.
