Program Details

We invite you to stay in our fun, friendly and family owned and run Pema Guest House, perched above a beautiful valley in the small and lovely village of Briddim. It is situated in the Langtang National Park and directly on the Tamang Heritage Trail. The perfect setting for volunteering in Nepal !

Neema, the cheerful and caring lady running the daily business of the guesthouse, is also a wonderful cook, using mainly fresh and locally grown vegetables to prepare delicious traditional Nepali, Tibetan and western dishes. She also makes sure guests arrive in a clean and fresh accommodation.

Dawa, her husband, is an experienced guide, who manages the guesthouse and makes sure the guests are provided with all the information they need about local culture and traditions. We have two young children, who go to school in Kathmandu. We both love to talk, make jokes and interact with our all our guests at the Pema Guest House.

In return for your efforts, which will be no more than 6 hours a day, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the valley and surrounding mountains, plus white topped peaks in the distance. The quietness and calmness of our village will certainly have a relaxing effect on you too. If you like, you can go for hikes and do yoga or meditate in front of the guesthouse. Three meals a day, hot and cold drinks, warm showers and unlimited WiFi will be available for you. There’s also a washing machine for you to us when needed. You will have your own modern build wooden room or share it with another volunteer. And don’t forget the previously mentioned submerged experience of the Tamang culture and traditions.

Activities & Shift

Our village Bridhim has a vibrant mixture of Tamang and Nepali culture, which transform your volunteering in Nepal as a real cultural experience ! Here we can arrange, and you can experience such interesting things as:

- Local Tamang welcome dance.
- Tibetan language and singing.
- Cooking local food like dal bhat and Tibetan bread.
- Make traditional handcrafts.
- Traditional Puja (Buddhist blessing).
- Tibetan Tsechu festival (February).
- Tibetan Buddhist New Year festivities called Loshar.

We are looking for enthusiastic and social people that want to join us in our daily lives, providing you with a more submerged experience of Nepali life in the mountains, specifically with an authentic Tamang lifestyle. We are happy to teach you some Tamang phrases and local customs.

Rules

You have to get a tourist car to come to Briddim from Kathmandu. Dawa and Neema can help you with this. You have to pay a fee for entering the national park (3000 rupiah). This is a government tax which needs to be payed.
