Alan/ Juifen was great! Alan is quick to chat, very kind and respectful host He laid out tasks clearly and we even made a chart to help understand full expectations on day 1. He brought sweet treats to share, and work is simple. Juifen itself is a hiker/ explorer's OASIS. It's so fun! Just make sure you get anything you really need before arriving, grocery store is about an hour away- and breakfast isn't provided like explained. This was a perfect start to my trip! Thank you Alan!!

I had a great experience as it was my first volunteer and first time in Taïwan ! Alan is a great host and is always here if you need some help. The work is really simple and it will take you 1/2h per days so it is quite chill. The landscape is beautiful, you are surrounded by mountains so you can da lot of hiking and it is just one hour from Taipei. Go go !

Honestly, I did not know what to expect when I first applied for this volunteer experience because there were no previous reviews about this project. That said, I applied for and accepted the position in blind faith and I have no regrets. Even though I am far from home, the host did a great job at cultivating an environment where I would feel at home. He is both kind & honest, and thoughtful & helpful. The job description on this application is accurate and fair. The work is easily manageable and though it says 4hrs of work per shift, we always finished everything between 1.5-2hrs.

I had an amazing time volunteering at the hostel beyond expectations! The work is easy, starting at 12 PM and usually done in two hours, leaving plenty of time to explore. The hostel feels like home, and Alan, the manager, is the best—super welcoming and always up for a chat. It's 50 min from Taipei, perfect for a getaway. The main market closes at 7 PM, but there's a 7-11 nearby, and Ruifang is a short ride away for more options. If you loking for a chill vibe and a city break, I highly recommend it. Thank you, Alan, for everything—I'd love to come back!

It's the best place to volunteer in Taiwan, you should definitely come here! Alan is a chill and fun host liked by many travellers, the place is cozy and homely, the work is not hard so you'll have a lot of free time, interesting travellers come and share their stories everyday, you can travel around as much as you want... You can both rest in solitude or hang out with others! the hostel is a beautiful Ghibli style place, where you can enjoy the magical lanterns, explore Taiwanese architecture, or you can hike to the mountains nearby, enjoying the spectacular sceneries :) 100/10! Would come again

Alan was a great host, and very detailed in how he runs the hostel. If you are willing to learn, he will teach you how to properly host, but it can be a bit overwhelming at first if you aren't ready for that. The workload is detailed, but not large, with plenty of free time to explore the surrounding town, and beautiful mountains.

El hostel pueblo chico, tranquilo y entre montañas. Las activiades son faciles, no te lleva mas de 2 horas hacer el house keepping, solo cuida los detalles que le gustan a Alan. Si buscas un lugar donde conectar con la naturaleza, estar entre montañas y senderos, este es el voluntariado ideal. La casa es bastante acogedora y conoceras bastantes viajeros con los que podras platicar mucho. Ten en cuenta que necesitar ir al pueblo de alado (ruifang) para comprar suministros si deseas cocinarte.
