The experience

Join Vicky's Keys Volunteer Center in tropical Sint Maarten! We seek enthusiastic volunteers to assist with cleaning, painting, kitchen help, and gardening at our eco-friendly agri-tourism hub. Experience Caribbean culture while developing skills in sustainable living.

Available: Nov 2025-June 2026 Stay: 4-12 weeks Age: 18+

Includes: Shared accommodation, meals during workdays, WiFi, and amazing beach nearby!


What you offer

6 hours of help per day

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens

Additional fee required

Amount: US$ 150 One time

Fee pays for: Benefits for travelers, Materials for volunteer activities, and Donation to project

Description: US$ 100 is for donation to Vicky's Keys for activity materials and contribution to using the volunteer center utilities (Water/Electricity/Gas/Internet) and US$ 50 is a deposit required by the Volunteer Center that functions as a security deposit in case you damage anything or lost your room key during your stay. If you haven't damaged anything or lost your room key then you will be reimbursed US$50.

Permaculture Course: Take part in our Permaculture course for free.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Basic Internet Access: Basic speed internet for you to work remotely

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

1. Application & Selection

2. Duration & Scheduling
- Program runs November 2025 - June 2026
- Flexible entry dates within this period
- Minimum stay: 4 weeks
- Maximum stay: 12 weeks
- Work schedule: 6 hours/ per day
- 2 days off per week

MORNING SHIFT (7:00 AM - 1:00 PM)

• 7:00 - 7:45: Early Morning Setup
- Facility walkthrough
- Quick clean common areas
- Breakfast prep assistance
- Set up dining area
- Coffee station setup

• 7:45 - 10:15: Breakfast Service Period
- 7:45 - 8:00: Final breakfast setup
- 8:00 - 10:00: Assist with breakfast service
- Maintain dining area cleanliness
- Clear tables & assist guests
- 10:00 - 10:15: Begin cleanup

• 10:15 - 10:30: Break

• 10:30 - 1:00: Morning Tasks
- Complete breakfast cleanup
- Deep clean common areas
- Start laundry

- Prepare for afternoon tasks

📅 AFTERNOON SHIFT (1:00 PM - 7:00 PM)

• 1:00 - 3:00: Main Tasks
- Facility maintenance

• 3:15 - 5:00: General Duties
- Common areas cleaning
- Complete laundry
- Minor repairs

• 5:00 - 7:00: Evening Tasks
- Kitchen deep clean
- Prep for next day's breakfast
- Final facility walkthrough
- Secure all areas
- Set up morning prep station

Weekly Task Focus:
• Mondays: Deep cleaning
• Tuesdays: Garden focus
• Wednesdays: Maintenance projects
• Thursdays: Storage & inventory
• Fridays: Weekend prep
• Weekends: Rotating schedule

Notes:
• One 15-min break per shift
• Tasks rotate between volunteers
• Guest service is priority
• Schedule adjusts for events/weather
• Morning shift focuses on guest experience
• Afternoon shift focuses on maintenance


Rules

Accommodation Rules:
• Quiet hours: 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM
• Keep personal spaces tidy
• No unauthorized overnight guests
• Respect shared spaces and others' privacy
• Follow cleaning roster for shared facilities
• Report maintenance issues promptly
• Energy-conscious: turn off lights/AC when leaving(!!)
• Lock doors and windows when leaving

Work Ethics:
• Be punctual - arrive 5 mins before shift
• Wear appropriate work attire
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Clean, presentable clothing
• Follow safety protocols
• Report any accidents/incidents immediately
• Communicate schedule changes in advance
• Complete task checklist daily
• Attend weekly team meetings

Professional Conduct:
• Maintain professional boundaries with guests
• No smoking during shifts
• No phone use during work hours except emergencies
• Represent Vicky's Keys positively
• Maintain confidentiality
• Follow chain of command for issues
• Practice sustainable habits

Community Living:
• Participate in community meals when scheduled
• Respect cultural differences
• Support fellow volunteers
• Keep noise levels considerate
• Clean up after yourself in common areas
• Follow recycling and composting guidelines
• Contribute to positive atmosphere

Health & Safety: • Report any illness immediately• Follow COVID-19 protocols if applicable • Use provided safety equipment • Keep emergency contacts updated • Know evacuation procedures • Maintain personal hygiene • Stay hydrated during work

Grounds & Facilities:• No alterations to rooms without permission • Report broken/damaged items • Use tools and equipment properly • Return items to designated storage

Consequences: • Verbal warning for minor infractions • Written warning for repeated issues • Program termination for serious violations
