Join us at a small centre for children with disabilities!
The experience
I run a small charity in the centre of Arusha, Tanzania. Monday to Thursday we run a daycare centre for children with disabilities. On Friday's we conduct home visits to the children who live far away.
Your role will be to help look after the children, play with them, feed them. And if you have any additional skills such as teacher, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, doctors, nurses etc then we would love for you to share your knowledge.
What you offer
20 hours of help per week
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Use our equipped kitchen:
Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Requirements
Fluent English
Over 18 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

What we expect from you; someone who is kind and caring and enjoys looking after children.
What can I give you in return?
You will be staying in my house (with my family), or in the volunteer house nextdoor to my house. I will provide your meals which will be lots of local Tanzanian dishes. I can teach you all about Tanzanian culture and even teach you some Swhalli!
We hope to share experiences, knowledge and skills. We would love to share different cultures and languages and food.
Activities & Shift
Shifts:
Monday to Thursday, get the bus into town. Working hours are 9am-4pm, but I am happy to be flexible with this.
On Friday's we do home visits to the children who live far away. This is a great opportunity to see the local villages.
Weekends are free for you to explore. I can give you good recommendations for things such as safari, waterfalls, hikes etc.
Daily activities at the centre:
- playing with the children
- feeding them
- helping them do their Physio exercises and school work.
- if you have any other skills you wish to share with us then you can do this at the centre. Such as social media, decorating or healthcare.
