The experience

As a Worldpacker at Foundation, you'll have a rewarding experience. Your day-to-day life will involve:

- Assisting with educational activities, such as teaching English and math
- Helping with daily chores, like meal preparation and cleaning
- Participating in extracurricular activities, like sports and arts
- Spending quality time with the children, playing games and engaging in conversations


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Child Care: Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Teaching Sports: Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.

Teaching Languages: Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Accommodation: Get discounts for your stay in other hostels.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Bikes at your disposal: You can use our bikes any time you want.

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Yoga classes: Take free yoga classes at our place.

Surf lessons: Take free surf classes at the local beaches.

Dance classes: Take free dance classes at our place.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely

Activities & Shift

Daily Activities Checklist:

As a Worldpacker ats Foundation, your daily activities may include:

Assisting with educational activities (e.g. teaching English, math)
Helping with daily chores (e.g. meal preparation, cleaning)
Participating in extracurricular activities (e.g. sports, arts, crafts)
Spending quality time with the children (e.g. playing games, conversations)
Assisting with meal times (e.g. serving, cleaning up)
Helping with homework and tutoring
Participating in team meetings and discussions
Contributing to the overall well-being and safety of the children

Shifts:

Our shifts are typically:

Morning shift: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
Afternoon shift: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Evening shift: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

You will be expected to work a combination of these shifts, with at least one day off per week. We are flexible and can accommodate your needs and preferences whenever possible.

Additional Rules:

Yes, we have a few additional rules to ensure a safe and respectful environment for everyone:

1. Respect local culture and customs: We are a Ugandan organization, and we expect our Worldpackers to respect and adapt to local customs and traditions.
2. Maintain confidentiality: Please keep confidential any personal or sensitive information about the children, staff, or organization.
3. Use of technology: We have limited internet access, and we expect Worldpackers to use technology responsibly and only for work-related purposes.
4. Safety and security: Please take necessary precautions to ensure your safety and security, especially when traveling or exploring the local area.
5. Respect for property: Please take care of our property and resources, and report any damage or issues to the staff.
6. No smoking or drinking: We have a no-smoking and no-drinking policy on our premises.
7. Respect for staff and children: Please treat our staff and children with respect and kindness, and follow our guidelines for interacting with them.

Consequences of not following rules:

Failure to follow these rules may result in a conversation with our staff, a warning, or in extreme cases, termination of your Worldpacker placement.
