Sea Rescue Training and Volunteer Program
The experience
VEN’s Sea Rescue Volunteer Program, in partnership with local authorities and rescue teams, trains participants in vital life-saving skills while enhancing My Khe Beach safety. Volunteers gain hands-on experience in sea rescue, learn first-aid and CPR, and work alongside experts to help ensure the safety of beachgoers.

What you get

You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Bikes at your disposal:
You can use our bikes any time you want.

We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.
Certificate:
Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Intermediate English or Intermediate Vietnamese
Between 18 and 40 years old

Program Details
Viet Endangered Narratives (VEN) is a social enterprise focused on biodiversity conservation through visual storytelling, using wildlife filmmaking to raise awareness about endangered species in Vietnam.
Sea Rescue Volunteer Program
In partnership with local authorities and professional rescue teams, VEN offers this immersive program to equip volunteers with life-saving skills while enhancing the safety of My Khe Beach visitors. Volunteers will gain hands-on experience in sea rescue, CPR, first aid, and assist in beach patrols to ensure public safety.

Program Overview
A 2-week immersive experience, volunteers will undergo sea rescue training, gain practical patrolling experience, and develop emergency response skills. They will learn:
Sea rescue techniques and lifesaving protocols
CPR and first-aid for drowning victims
Practical training in beach and ocean safety
Marine safety and environmental awareness
Upon completion, volunteers receive a Sea Rescue Training Certificate from VEN and Royal Life Saving Rescue Australia.
Program Schedule:
Week 1: Orientation & Training
Day 1: Arrival, welcome dinner, and cultural introduction
Day 2: Sea rescue theory, CPR, first aid, and beach safety
Week 1 (Practical Training)
Day 3-6: Ocean rescue basics, equipment training, real-time simulations, and beach safety patrols
Week 2: Real-World Operations & Final Project
Day 7-9: Active beach patrols and public safety campaigns
Day 10-12: Final rescue operations and documentation
Day 13-14: Certification, final reflections, and closing ceremony
Activities & Shift
Swimming and endurance training; rescue drills and simulations; use of rescue equipment such as life buoys, ropes, and boats; first aid and CPR training; coordination and communication exercises; beach patrolling and monitoring; assisting in rescue operations and providing first aid to beachgoers; collaborating with local authorities to ensure beach safety; learning about local marine conditions and safety challenges.
We also offer city tours (Da Nang; Hoi An) for volunteers to explore the local culture.
Rules
House rules:
The use of illegal drugs or excessive use of alcohol and smoking is strictly forbidden.
Do not play with the extinguishers or smoke alarms! They are there for your safety.
Tidy up after yourself.
Keep the noise at an appropriate level.
Ensure lights and appliances are switched off when not in use.
Take care not to damage or lose any property in the common areas of the house.
Do not take friends or relatives to the shared house without obtaining permission from the host.
