The experience

Kakuma Refugee Camp is home to over 15 different nationalities, each with its own unique culture and traditions. We’re looking for a volunteer to join us in this vibrant community and help explore the beauty of diversity! By volunteering, you’ll have the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds, learn from their experiences, and help promote understanding and unity among different cultures.


What you offer

18 hours of help per week

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.


What you get

2 days off per week

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Fast Internet Access: High-speed internet for you to work remotely


Requirements

Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

1. Cultural Exchange – Help organize and join in discussions or workshops where people from different cultures share their traditions and stories.
2. Community Work – Work with local leaders to bring different cultural groups together and promote understanding.
3. Event Planning – Help plan and run cultural events that celebrate the different traditions in the camp.
4. Storytelling – Listen to and record personal stories from refugees to share their experiences and cultures with others.
These activities will help volunteers connect with the community, learn about different cultures, and make a positive impact.


Activities & Shift

The volunteer will be having 2 shifts:

- Morning shift from 9:00 to 11:30 am and from 2:00 to 4:30 pm.
