My favorite volunteering experience ever! I had such a great time at the hostel! I loved the overall vibe of the hostel. The team is super nice and was very welcoming. The tasks were super easy and I was very flexible with the activities I had to organize. The working hours were also less than stated on Worldpackers. I'd love to come back to Recreio when going back to Rio. I already miss it!

Volunteering at the hostel has truly been one of the best travel experiences i've ever had. I ended up extending and staying for 2 months. I instantly felt so welcomed by the whole team as well as the town of Recreio itself! The vibes here are unmatched, surf, nature, beaches, hikes, whilst still having Rio city close by! The activities planner role was so fun and rewarding. The hours are flexible and allow you a lot of free time. I was able to surf almost every day, the perks of volunteering here are very good and I would come back to the hostel again without hesitation!

I had a blast in the hostel. Honestly that's exactly what you looking for in a volunteering. Great balance between work hours & fun. The staff made me feel welcome from the begging. I have practiced my Portuguese and learned a bit of surfing. I'm soooo glad I went there. Defo recommended!!!!

I loved my experience at the hostel, truly enough to extend haha. if you are a ocean lover and want or know how to surf this place is for you. Free surf rental when enough boards and discounted classes you can take any day!!I've practiced a lot of my Portuguese enough to understand some and even though the city center is about a two hour bus ride I've really adapted to the slow life here in recreio! All good things to say really. the spacing of things could be better when it comes to living and places to store our food but other then that an amazing experience!!

My experience was very good. I was able to speak a lot of Spanish and English, and meet new people and cultures. The experience in the room I stayed in was not very comfortable, and I didn't feel safe during the night shift because only the volunteer was in charge of the entire hostel. For personal reasons, I had to leave the experience early, and that wasn't well received... But overall, it was great.

This was my first experience through Worldpackers and they set the bar high. I worked on the community manager role, and loved every second of it. My main purpose, to practice the language was fully covered, but I also won so many rich experiences, visited the city a couple of times, enjoyed sunrise and sunsets by the beach and even learned how to surf! My only perks would be the comfortability of the shared room, the distance from Rio de Janeiro (2h in public transportation) and the food not being included. Other than that would definitely recommend it, great place & awesome people!

I could not have any other experience better then this time at the hostel to start my journey as a volunteer around the world. The coordinators and teamwork were always supportive and I think now I can say that I have a little family in Rio who I can count on. The work hours were perfect for me, I had the flexibility that I needed to surf and work besides my volunteer hours and this made my time there really enjoyable. I would definetily recommend for everyone and can't wait to come back soon!

I had an amazing time, it's a small surf town. I never felt unsafe which is rare for Rio, but it's a really good area. My co workers were the sweetest as well as the rest of the staff. They're very chill people so it can be a little difficult to make a plan, I didn't get any surf lessons even though it was a part of the agreement. I would definitely recommend this experience if you're a surfer! If you're going to Rio for party's this area is not lively as centre Rio. But I'm very grateful for my experience
