Program Details
Our Digital Marketing and Social Media Volunteer Program in Moshi, Kilimanjaro offers a unique opportunity for volunteers to gain practical experience in the fast-evolving digital marketing world. Volunteers will play an integral role in expanding our online presence by managing social media platforms, creating engaging content, and assisting in web development and graphic design for various campaigns. This program is perfect for individuals with a passion for technology, creativity, and digital communications.
As a volunteer, you will work closely with our team to develop strategies for growing our digital footprint and engaging with a global audience. You’ll gain hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, website development, and graphic design, making this an ideal opportunity to build your portfolio and expand your skill set in the digital space.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers will work for 4 hours per day, with a combination of tasks focused on social media management, content creation, and website development. The shifts will be in the morning, with afternoons free for exploration or personal time.
1. Social Media Management:
- Manage and schedule posts across various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).
- Engage with followers and respond to comments or messages.
- Monitor social media trends and develop strategies to boost engagement.
- Create and curate engaging content (text, images, videos, etc.) that aligns with the brand’s voice and goals.
2. Content Creation:
- Write blog posts, articles, or social media captions.
- Assist in creating graphics, infographics, and promotional materials using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and develop content ideas for campaigns.
3. Website Development & Maintenance:
- Assist in building, updating, and maintaining the website (WordPress or other platforms).
- Help with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to improve website visibility.
- Ensure that the website is up to date with relevant content, images, and information.
4. Graphic Design:
- Design graphics for social media posts, flyers, banners, and marketing materials.
- Use design tools like Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva to create visually appealing content.
- Ensure that all designs are consistent with the brand’s aesthetic and messaging.
Shifts:
- Work Hours: 4 hours per day (morning shift)
- Working Days: 4 days a week (flexible schedule)
- Days Off: 3 days a week for personal time, exploration, and relaxation
Rules

1. Professionalism:
- Maintain a professional attitude and approach towards all tasks and interactions with the team and community members.
- Meet deadlines and complete tasks on time. If unable to meet deadlines, communicate early with the team.
2. Respect for Local Culture:
- Be respectful of the local customs, traditions, and cultural differences in Moshi and Kilimanjaro.
- Volunteers should be sensitive to the community’s values and practices, especially in rural areas.
3. Teamwork & Communication:
- Actively collaborate with the team, sharing ideas and feedback.
- Be open to receiving constructive feedback and improve based on suggestions.
- Maintain clear and open communication with the coordinator regarding tasks, progress, or any challenges faced.
4. Creativity & Initiative:
- We encourage volunteers to bring their creativity and ideas to the table. If you see opportunities for improvement in our digital marketing efforts, feel free to propose new ideas.
- Take initiative and be proactive in your work, but don’t hesitate to ask for guidance when needed.
5. Respect for Equipment & Resources:
- Handle all equipment (computers, cameras, design software, etc.) with care and report any issues immediately.
- Use resources responsibly, especially internet and software tools.
6. Personal Responsibility:
- Volunteers are expected to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness, especially in shared spaces like the office, kitchen, and bathrooms.
- Respect the shared living and working environment with other volunteers.
7.Confidentiality:
- Respect the confidentiality of all sensitive information.
