The experience
At Foundation, volunteers support community initiatives focused on empowering women, educating children, and promoting sustainability. Tasks include outreach, educational support, project management, and cultural exchange. Volunteers should be proactive, flexible, and respectful of local customs. Accommodation and meals are provided, and there are opportunities to explore Tanzania s landscapes and wildlife while making a positive impact
What you offer
18 hours of help per week
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
Kitchen Hand:
Help prepare, finish and serve meals.
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
What you get
2 days off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Shared Dorm:
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Fluent English and Beginner English

Program Details
The volunteer program at Powerlight Development Foundation offers individuals the opportunity to contribute to impactful community projects while exploring Arusha, Tanzania. Volunteers can participate in hands-on activities like teaching, workshops, and community outreach, working closely with local women and children. Volunteers are provided with support and guidance throughout their time, with a focus on creating sustainable change in underserved communities. The program allows volunteers to gain valuable experience, make a meaningful impact, and enjoy cultural exploration during their stay.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers at Powerlight Development Foundation engage in meaningful activities designed to create lasting change in the community. Daily activities may include:
Teaching & Educational Support: Assisting in classrooms, leading interactive lessons, tutoring students, and supporting teachers with educational materials.
Workshops & Training: Conducting skill-based workshops for women and youth, such as entrepreneurship, computer literacy, or life skills.
Community Outreach: Engaging with local communities, raising awareness on key issues like health, hygiene, and education, and supporting community events.
Daycare Assistance: Helping care for young children at Powerlight Daycare by organizing learning activities, playing with kids, and providing support to caregivers.
School Renovation & Maintenance: Assisting with painting, light construction, or school improvement projects to create a better learning environment.
Rules
To ensure a positive and productive experience for both volunteers and the community, we ask that all volunteers follow these guidelines:
Respect the Local Culture: Be open-minded and respectful of Tanzanian traditions, customs, and local communities.
Dress Modestly: When working with children and the community, appropriate attire is required (no revealing clothing).
Punctuality & Commitment: Arrive on time for your assigned activities and communicate in advance if you are unable to attend.
Safety First: Follow all safety guidelines provided by the program coordinators and ask for help if needed.
Sustainability Focus: Contribute to long-term impact by engaging in meaningful activities rather than short-term charity work.
