What you offer
8 hours of help per day
Child Care:
Caring for, playing with, and spending time with children.
Social Work:
Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.
Teaching Sports:
Teaching or assisting the host, guests, or local communities in practicing sports or physical activities.
Teaching Languages:
Teaching a language to the host, guests, or local communities.

Program Details
The volunteer will play a pivotal role in implementing the Pickleball program to empower teenage mothers and youth in Kakuma. They will train participants in the sport, ensuring inclusivity and fostering a welcoming environment for marginalized groups. The volunteer will organize workshops on teamwork, leadership, and personal development alongside pickleball sessions to enhance life skills. They will collaborate with local leaders to engage the community, promote zero discrimination, and encourage participation. Additionally, they will help design tournaments and events to build confidence and unity among participants while advocating for inclusion and global awareness. Their efforts will create a lasting impact on skills, empowerment, and community cohesion.
Activities & Shift
1. Orientation and Training Workshops
Objective:
To introduce participants to the fundamentals of pickleball and the program’s mission of peace cohesion and ending community violence.
Activities:
Introduction to Pickleball: Basic rules, techniques, and equipment usage.
Peace and Inclusion Workshop: Discussions on the importance of unity, collaboration, and addressing tribal divisions.
Team Building Exercises: Activities that promote trust, communication, and mutual respect among participants.
Skill Development Sessions: Focused practice on pickleball skills such as serving, volleying, and scoring.
Shifts:
Morning (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM): Orientation and peace workshop.
Afternoon (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM): Team-building exercises and skill development.
