Program Details
We expect volunteers to teach with energy and dedication: students are incredibly motivated, and that helps a lot.
Teachers in the Professional School make a huge impact as, thanks to the new language skills, the students will be able to apply for jobs that will help them improve their quality of life. We do not exaggerate when we say that this course can change their lives!
The school is modern and well equipped, the course is based on a textbook, but teachers can use all their creativity to implement activities to promote learning and communication skills.
All teachers are asked to: ensure the coverage of the assigned programme of study, prepare appropriate lessons plans, evaluate the students and provide feedbacks when necessary, and then, of course, be responsible and motivated.
You can expect to be guided and supported all the time, at work and during your stay at Anantapur.
Activities & Shift
In the organisation we work from Monday to Saturday inclusive. Sunday is the day of rest.
You will teach 2 classes per day (to the same group of students), morning and afternoon.
Classes lasts 2 hours.
Days off are: Sundays, 1 day per month, holidays in the Indian calendar.
Rules
To volunteer in India for more than 25 days, you'll need an employment visa.
You can apply for it through the Indian embassy in Germany (or your country of origin).
All volunteers (teachers and others) live in a cozy campus 1 km away from the school. You will be asked to respect some rules of common living, in order to keep a good environment and help all volunteers to enjoy their experience.
The school has its rules as well: attendance and punctuality, coverage of the assigned programme, evaluation and feedback of the students, participation in meetings, are the most important rules to keep in mind.
In one word: professionalism.
This is of extreme importance, as it sets an example for the students as well.
Last but not least, keep always in mind Indian culture is different: be flexible, open minded and respectful of the local culture.
