My time at Omah Sinau was so incredible! I was so sad to go and wish I could have stayed longer. Asih and the whole family are so kind and welcome you into their home with such love. You will have a true authentic experience living how local Indonesian people do, learning about their culture and religion, visit local sites and eat AMAZING food all hand made by Asih herself! Not only this but you are also supporting an amazing foundation trying to make a real difference in the lives of the local people. I could not recommend this project enough!

Volunteering at the organization was an enriching experience. I was there during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, it was nice that the family let me be apart of the Islamic tradition holidays. It was such a unique experience. I even got to meet the family's extended relatives, neighbors, and friends. I also got to stay for Halal bi halal and Nyewu (Javanese) two other Indonesian traditions. It was nice because they involved me in cooking/in the garden, I got to paint and meet other volunteers during my stay there. The schedule is flexible and food is organic and tasty. Thank you Ibu Asih and family for a fun time

My experience at the organization exceeded my expectations!! It was the highlight of my trip in Indonesia. I was immediately welcomed in and felt at home by Asih and her family. If you want to be totally immersed in the culture and connect with locals, this is the place! Asih is an amazing, kind & empowering woman- she has a huge heart and a great vision for the organization to help others. I got to visit local schools, teach English on Sundays to kids, do gardening, and visit tourist attractions as well. Everyday is different here. You won't regret coming! Thank you for everything the organization family ♡

I came back for the second time and can easily come back for a third! I forgot they are only getting volunteers for half a year, but the growth they made is impressive. The kids English improved, Haidar his tourguide skills improved and the food is amazing as always! They work a lot with the community and really try to make a difference! It is nice to experience that from up close and to feel their excitement for just visiting! I hope I can come back again and cannot wait to see how they have grown by then! The family is amazing and the mindset of Asih is truly admirable. Highy recommend!

My experience as a volunteer has been above my expectations. Miss Asih and her family have welcomed me practically as part of the family. Her vision about Oma Sinau Gesang is a truly example of woman empowering. The food was amazing all the time and the cultural inmersion was absolutely fantastic, I actually was little bit sad because I found " a home away from". I will definitely come back in the near future. Makasih the organization, Asih, Papa, Haidar, Rara, Masi and of course fufu fafa, you have a place in my heart from now and then. 🐱

I was welcomed by Asih's family right away. They are really remarkable, living in a community that struggles with knowledge and attempting to help them grow with compassion. I learned so much about Indonesian culture but also social nuances. Asih's family cares about empowerment and inclusivity and I really believe in their mission. I also got to visit some beautiful destinations (waterfalls!) in my one month there and did some fun and unique activities. Advice: there are mosquitos. Best to bring repellent from outside of Indonesia (spray DEET is best) but can buy locally (Soffell > Autan).

I have mixed feelings. The moments I spent with the children and young people were truly wonderful their joy and sincerity touched my heart deeply. However, I felt there could be more organization and planning in the project. On a couple of occasions, I had to cover the cost of materials for activities myself, which made me wonder how the contributions from volunteers are allocated. I believe the project could benefit from having a clearer structure and purpose for volunteers, so that the time spent here is more directly connected to the proyecto instead of and income and tourist porpoise

I'm sorry to hear that the experience is not exactly what you hoped. We are always looking to improve, of course, so I can elaborate more on the situation. In reality, the meaningful experience you had with local children and youth wouldn't have possible without the existence of this organization and the voluntary work we've put in to make it happen. It's only fair that any appreciation for the experience also acknowledges the role of the organization behind it.

We need to consider each
