I am so glad that I my first Worldpacker experience was with the hostel. Working at the hostel gave me the opportunity to slow down on my journey and really appreciate the place I was in. The owners were very encouraging about going out to explore all of La Fortuna, helped schedule my tours and also gave me the opportunity to go on some of the hostel tours for free- which were some of my favorite days. Overall it was an amazing experience and met some of the most amazing people while on my travels.

I'm forever grateful to Lara & Lautaro for this opportunity, I got to make lifelong friends and had such an amazing time as a first ever volunteer experience. They have a little family that is so welcoming and you quickly feel at home, especially because of the people there. The work is fun too because you get to learn about Costa Rica a lot more and it gives you a pretty good idea of the culture and customs here! Learning spanish but also helping others learn french & english was a pleasant surprise as well :). The month flew by quickly and Lara & her family were part of the reason why :)

This was my first volunteering experience, and I had a great time staying at the hostel. It quickly felt like home and I met amazing people along the way. The work itself is pretty relaxed once you get the hang of it and there are plenty of perks, like staff food to prepare your meals and discounts on tours, which is really nice. I highly recommend this experience to anyone considering volunteering!

I worked at Ceiba hostel as a receptionist for three weeks, i had a really good time and met some amazing people! Ronald took care of all of us volunteers and provided a really good environment! Still, there a few things that i want to mention. first of all they don't provide a meal per day, but they buy grocery once a week for the staff and you can cook using the ingredients. also, there are just two free tours and they have conditions (es. one volunteer per time or you have to pay) and the others with a 10-15 usd discount. overall it was a good experience and i would recommend it!

Hi Morticia, we’d like to clarify that each volunteer receives the items needed to cook, as coordinating meal times and food preferences for everyone is difficult. We offer three free tours: hot springs (any time with space), sloth tour, and Arenal Volcano, with the last two depending on external providers. Extra free tours may be offered based on performance. Thank you for your time with us — you’ll always have a home in La Fortuna

Super nice place for solo travellers, very safe for women. The accommodation is great, with a chill hangout area and a room that's quiet and private. Be aware: there's no AC in the 10-bed dorm where volunteers sleep if no exterior guests are staying there. Also, the “lunch per day” is actually groceries bought at the start of the week to help reduce food costs. This experience definitely wouldn't have been the same without the amazing staff I met! Also, be ready to do housekeeping, even if it's not announced. Overall, it was great!

Thanks for your help Jade. In our announcement we say that front these help to make beds and have general order ( keep kitchen clean and take out the trash) we don't consider that as housekeeping task as could be cleaning bathrooms etc.
