The experience
Join our family on our small food forest/urban homestead. We’re passionate about living organically, making lots of food from scratch, and thriving off what we grow. With chickens, gardens, I need lots of help with keeping things tidy around the place lots of projects.
Please note I have been recovering from sepsis I get very tired easily.
You will need to be okay to work independently have good common sense and practicality.
What you offer
5 hours of help per day
Building & Repairing:
Help with a wide range of repairs or building.
Cleaning:
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Housekeeping:
Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.
Gardening:
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
What you get
1 day off per week
Private Room:
You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.
Breakfast:
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
Lunch:
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
Dinner:
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
Free Laundry:
You can use our laundry room freely.
Basic Internet Access:
Basic speed internet for you to work remotely
Requirements
Intermediate English
Between 18 and 50 years old
Welcomes solo volunteers, couples, and partners of volunteers

Program Details
We’re looking for someone who would love to join our family and help with:
• Housework: assisting with tasks like washing dishes.
• Gardening: helping out in our small food forest. A lot of weeding, mulching, shoveling dirt.
Other activities help with renovations, painting, general cleaning and decluttering.
You need to be in good health, and have reasonable physical strength. Some jobs are heavy like loading or stacking firewood or moving heavy furniture. Please let me know if you’re confident using small chainsaw or power tools or have any practical building skills.
Activities & Shift
What we offer:
• Work expectations 4-5 hours per day. Some days there will be more other days. There will be less. This is a general guideline being flexible is helpful.
• Inclusion in family activities, such as hikes and tramping trips.
• we often go tramping and hiking around New Zealand. ( you would need to help provide your hiking meals if you wish to accompany, all meals at home are provided alongside accommodations.
We prefer to have females but open two couples if one of you have building skills and could build small projects
There is two children. A toddler and 6 year old is homeschooled.
Rules
We maintain a family-focused and peaceful environment on our homestead. As such, we ask that you respect our space by refraining from inviting casual acquaintances, or bringing strangers onto the property.
No extra dietary requirements. We eat hearty simple meals- if you are fussy this is not the place for you!
General house rules / Be respectful, keep yourself tidy. Be mindful of keeping showers to a respectable time. Turn lights off when not in use.
Please do not help yourself to the pantry without checking first. There will be fruits and a fridge of food that will be available in between meals if you need.
*Please respect my children’s privacy and refrain from taking photos or sharing images of their faces online. If unsure please ask.
We attend a Christian church and are involved a lot. You are more than welcome to join but it is completely optional.
Sundays are your day off. Please note we live 1 hour drive from town and only go in twice a week. If you don’t have your own transport you will need to work around our schedule.
