Program Details
You will be helping us with garden and land maintenance, livestock/animal care, small building tasks related to the gardens and/or the Nature Spa we are building, and by participating in occasional foraging, processing, and preparing of wild foods for us all to enjoy, if this interests you (see our other position re: Wild Culinary Apprentice for more info!)
In exchange you will learn nature and culinary skills (including wild food identification, foraging and processing), sacred practices and knowledge for living an empowered and resilient life in alignment with community and mother nature.
You will have free access to the elements of the Nature Spa (Wood fired hot tub, cedar barrel sauna, and cold plunge), as well as access to our library and lifetime of knowledge
We all support one another - the cultivation of healthy, conscious, and resilient family & community is our top priority.
Activities & Shift
Here's a few ideas of help, although every day will be different:
- building cob structures, yurts, & animal spaces, fences
-General house and land maintenance
- landscaping, keeping trails open & opening new ones
- harvesting and chopping wood, starting and supervising fire
- garden weeding, harvesting, sowing seeds
- gathering and processing wild foods
-participating in kitchen projects
- preserving food, like making yummy ferments
-helping with small household organizational projects
- Please let us know if you have a gift to share, very open and appreciative of different skill-sets!
Rules
Fine Print:
-We will give priority to couples traveling together. This arrangement works best for us with our setup here.
-We like to have a video interview before we commit to one another to make sure both parties are feeling good about the stay.
-If you are applying you will need to stay committed to agreed upon dates, if you are not sure if you can commit 100% then please do not apply.
-Regarding dietary preferences, we unfortunately cannot not host vegans. Due to the nature of what I do, and because we eat what nature provides, this doesn't work for both of us.
-Because we are a family-oriented space with children, all those who stay on our land must be open to providing a criminal record check (or equivalent fitness for working with children)
