Program Details

Being a volunteer on our farm usually means becoming like family. In the summer there is gardening, and kayaking, and sometimes fishing. We have bicycles available for exploring. There is as much to do as someone wants, be it little or a lot. Our falls are a bit quieter as we get ready for winter. We like to relax in the evenings and watch a bit of TV. Help is always appreciated in the house with cleaning and cooking.

Activities & Shift

Keith andci start our mornings early. If you are a breakfast person l, we have breakfast together at 7:00 am. After cleaning up we head out to do chores(feed, water, and check all the animals: dogs, sheep, cows, cats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, and goats). After this we continue our day with whatever we are working on depending on the time of year. Winter is all about the care and feeding of our animals and keeping wood in the house ( we only heat with wood) and getting odd jobs done. Spring is about new life: lambs calves, kids, and chicks. Then it is bee season. Keith uncovers them, checks them, makes his splits, and gets them ready for honey season. Summer is about extracting honey, making hay, tending the garden and fruit trees, keeping the yard in order, and nights spent around a fire with friends. Fall is about getting everything and everyone in winter mode.

Rules

Our rules are limited. We ask that volunteers be responsible and willing to try their best. If you have questions, ask. Help out wherever you can. Immerse yourself in farm life in rural Saskatchewan.
