My experience in the home was unforgettable . First of all, the tasks were really easy and I had a free time to explore the place . Also , Ismail and his family were really helpful and friendly . They even invited me to a family ceremony for a childbirth so I learned a lot of things for their culture , which was really interesting . The place is really quiet and near to nature . I totally recommend this experience to other volunteers .The only thing that you should know is to rent a bicycle from here to explore the town as it is a little far from the center .

Volunteering at the home was a great experience. Ismail, the owner, is kind, open-minded, and always ready to help. The work was fair and flexible, allowing time for personal tasks and exploring Sabah. Most guests are local, making it a great chance to connect with the community and learn about local habits and culture. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a meaningful, balanced volunteering experience in Malaysia.

Host, Ismail, is a beautiful soul with a relaxed welcoming nature, provided comfortable accommodation in a calm atmosphere. My tasks were mostly "handyman style", some repairs and painting, also carpentry projects, usually taking place in the early morning or late afternoon to avoid the heat of the day where possible. Ismail encouraged exploration of the local area... There's Rice field walks, beach sunsets, produce market or family run food stalls/restaurants, and hiking to scenic viewpoints in the downtime. A great experience overall, a beautiful reminder of what travel can be.

I had a wonderful time at the home and wish I could have stayed longer. The tasks were easy and enjoyable, giving me plenty of time to soak in the beauty of the area. The village itself is stunning, and the people are incredibly friendly and hospitable - I even had the amazing experience of being invited to a local wedding! Ismail is a great host - friendly, relaxed, and always up for a good chat. He generously share knowledge about the Bajau people and Malay culture, which made my stay even more enriching. The amenities are basic but more than sufficient. I recommend it!

Ismaël is a very accommodating host. Very kind and respectful. The mission is simple and I liked it a lot. I learned a lot of things .The place is charming , between the sea and mountains, and the nearby rice fields are beautiful ! The locals are very kind and welcoming. The atmosphere among the volunteers was perfect ! We felt like at home in Kota Belud and will keep a very fond memory of it ! I highly recommend it. PS : Go see the fireflies : it's magical 🤩

We had a great time with Ismail, and really got to enjoy the slow pace of village life. Tasks were easy to complete and do not take a lot of time. There was lots of free time as well during the day. Ismail provides a list of sightseeing activities and they are close by, or easy to reach via car.

Volunteering with Ismail was the perfect opportunity to slow down and relax, explore the surrounding area and learn more about the kind and generous community and their culture. Tasks were easy, flexible and communication was clear. Although there are no big touristy pulls there are plenty of hidden gems to explore.

If you are looking for a calm and relaxed place to chill for a few weeks, you can come. The tasks are clear and simple, it doesn't take long once you are used to the routine. This remote place is not easy to access and leave so better have you own transport if you want to visit around during your free time.
